Jul 23, 2018 - Sicamous to Clearwater

A little bit of everything today. Lovely lakes, especially around Sicamous & Salmon Arm, mountains, of course, wineries & corn fields in the valleys near Kamloops then the road followed the North Thompson River north with nice views & lots of little farms. I left the TCH at Kamloops. The highway north from Kamloops to Jasper is still quite busy but nothing like the TCH. Lots of road-works though but I wasn’t in a hurry.

Canada 2018

Aug 19, 2017 - Clearwater KOA - Clearwater BC

It was sad saying good by to Bill and Meredith after our epic journey over the past 3 months :( We headed our separate ways with some GREAT memories of our adventures. I arrived at the KOA and was pleased with how nice it was and its proximity to Wells Gray Provincial Park. I found a local brew pub and BBQ place literally out the entrance to the KOA. The visitor center was also right out the gate and I armed myself with directions to several sweet water falls.....the back country hiking trails were all closed due to local wild fires, but...

Aug 13, 2017 - Never call a bike trip an adventure

Day 17, Leah: Due to Keith coming down with a cold, neither of us had a great sleep. Keith was awake and tooting the blow horn that is his nose throughout the night. When he did fall asleep, he was snoring like an angry grizzly bear and I tried to elbow him to make it stop but when he was out, he was OUT. In the middle of the night the rain had started to drizzle, as soon as the rain hit the smell of smoke in the air was intensified 100%. Needless to say, we woke up early at 6:30am and decided we may as well just pack up camp and hit the...

Aug 12, 2017 - Waterfalls and Beer

Day 16, Keith We both work up feeling refreshed as we had both slept well with the cooler temperatures in Clearwater. As I got out of the tent I noticed on the windows in the tent fly something on outside. Once outside the tent I realized that it was large chunks of ash from the BC fires that had fallen on our tent. I walked over to the washhouse to have a shower and left Leah to sleep-in a little. When I returned I made a coffee and started a 2nd coffee only to discover after the water nearly boiled that we were out of fuel for the stove....

Aug 11, 2017 - Hotter than hell

Day 15, Leah: Today’s original plan was to travel from Squamish to Lac Des Roche, but my cousin Rodney was not going to be back home in time for our visit. We re-scheduled to stay at the KOA campground in Clearwater instead. We stayed at this campground last year, and knew it would be a good stopping point. Leaving Squamish we headed north on the Sea to Sky highway through Whistler and Pemberton. The smoke haze in the air obstructed the mountain views. It was kinda neat though; at one point all you could see of the higher mountains was the...

2017 BC Bike Trip

Jun 10, 2017 - BC tour: Clearwater

We left Tacoma to head north to Maple Ridge, BC where we met up with Carmen and Jeff to begin our trip north in British Columbia. Roger worked in this area in his early years; there are many places he has talked of that I have never visited. On June 10 we headed up the Coquihalla Highway through Hope, then veered onto Highway 5 to make our way to Wells Gray, a provincial park. It is particularly known for its waterfalls. Highway 5 is the Yellowhead; Roger worked on it in his early days as a mechanic in Canada. Our first day we did a short...

Aug 5, 2016 - Clearwater August 5 - 6

Staying at Lacarya Golf Course & RV Park. We get to golf again for the 3rd time on this trip. There are areas that are a challenge to find a RV / Campgrounds that are worthy of a repeat visit, Clearwater has been one of these areas. That has changed now, we would come back here again on any trip thru the area. Only drawback is no showers. They have a very nice 9 hole golf course and the rates are very affordable.

Prince Rupert Bound

Jul 11, 2016 - Clearwater Valley Resort & KOA

Sorry, no pictures for the last 2 days. Yesterday was day 2 at the Hinton/Jasper KOA. Rain, rain and more rain. Got a fair amount overnight as well. Left Hinton at 08:00 am with a full tank of fuel this morning. Did I mention the rain? It was a wet drive from Hinton to the Yellowhead Hwy (Hwy 5) and most of the way down to Clearwater. We were very disappointed that we couldn't see Mount Robson. We were so looking forward to stopping and taking pictures. Another time change entering BC. We are now 3 hours behind EDST. Clearwater Valley...

Jul 11, 2016 - Jasper to Wells Grey

The next morning up early we left to drive through Mount Robson Park hoping to see the mountain--the highest in the Rockies. But like Pyramid Mountain high cloud obscured the top. We shared a cinnamon bun and had coffee before we went on our way. We bypassed Tete Jean taking the Yellowhead to Clearwater. Although we had seen many cow elk we had not seen a male. This changed as a male sporting his velvet covered antlers was munching grasses along the road. High cloud persisted all the way to Clearwater but allowed us to see the mountain...

Yellowknife Bound

Jun 29, 2016 - Morinville - Clearwater

Bright and early start today, everything loaded, and its Wagons West!! Breakfast in Spruce Grove, fuel stop at Beach Corner, then in Hinton, able to avoid the Jasper Township and keep right on going. Rest stop at Mount Robson Park, Kalona didn't understand why the closer mountain seemed bigger than Mount Robson, and why there was still so much snow up there. We arrived in Clearwater to a chilly ;-) 34C, the swimming pool was calling us so no sooner were we setup than we jumped in and relaxed for a bit. Supper then back in again (for K)...

Jun 29, 2015 - Clearwater, BC

Pictures seem to be getting less and the excitement is waining as the Alaska great adventure is behind us and the east coast is drawing us closer. You know how it is. The last several days from Stewart, BC to Clearwater, BC have been pretty uneventful so decided to take in some sights in Clearwater, BC. A small town with lots of activities including hiking, viewing waterfalls, resorts for those who enjoy riding horses, and rafting as this area in the middle of BC has many rivers. A couple of waterfalls that we visited is BC's comparison to...

Jun 14, 2014 - Clearwater, national park, waterfalls & BEARS!!!

I woke up in my lovely big cot and once we were up, I got to explore our big log cabin. Aunty Lizzy had her very own bedroom and bathroom and we could see the Lake from the living room and balcony! After breakfast, I went for a walk with Daddy to the main reception and we got a lift up the hill in a golf buggy!! Then Mummy and Auntie Lizzy joined us and we went in the car to Grays Provincial Park. I had a sneaky snooze on the way and Daddy disappeared for a bike ride! So me, Mummy and Auntie Lizzy ate some delicious wraps in the car looking...
