Aug 9, 2018 - Park day

I have now seen about everything on my list for Vancouver. I walked part way around Burnaby Lake, formed by damming the Brunette River, and saw how low it was. Impossible to load a kayak because the level was too low at the dock. Ducks and geese were feeding there, though. In the afternoon, I got out of the heat for a bit when I went to Deer Lake Park and found a shady lawn where I could sit and have lunch and read for awhile. I picked the wrong time to go back home because I had to travel a very busy Route 1 during rush hour. But it was...

Aug 3, 2018 - Burnaby Cariboo RV Park

I left Merritt at 10 AM and got to Burnaby at 12:30 PM (time zone change). I spent the afternoon washing my car, reading all the literature about Victoria, and making a few reservations and decisions. I will be catching a bus at 6:30 AM tomorrow to go to Victoria Island to visit the Butchart Gardens! The cost of $200 (CAD) is more effective than for me to take my car! I should be back here between 9:30 and 10PM! While I am glad to have full hookup here, we are in a gully of sorts and I have no TV reception and very poor internet connection!...

Aug 21, 2017 - Burnaby Cariboo RV Park - Burnaby BC

I arrived at the RV park in record time as I was reintroduced to 4 lanes of traffic lol!! The place has tall hedges around all the sites and is a bit tight, but I found someone to help me get backed in and then it was off to the concert! I navigated the subway with very little effort and arrived in plenty of time to grab a bite to eat and a beer before the band started. The concert was better than I imagined with some SWEET special effects. They played all my favorite songs and my return trip to the RV park via the subway was also...

Jul 2, 2016 - Burnaby Cariboo RV Resort

We took the ferry from Nanaimo on Vancouver Island over to Horseshoe Bay, just north of Vancouver. We arrived at Horseshoe Bay shortly after 9 PM, and headed south east to Burnaby and Cariboo RV. We don't like arriving at a campground after dark, but had little choice on this day. The park is extremely tight, with hardly room for our trailer, never mind the truck. We did get shoe-horned into our site and had a great sleep. We are spending two days exploring Vancouver. Yesterday we spent the day at Stanley Park. We enjoyed a delicious lunch...

Jun 27, 2016 - The Drive is Done - BC

Settled into the Burnaby Cariboo RV Park, in the middle of the city but in acres of woodlands and nearby lake. They had an RV wash right here, goodbye to the dirt! Our map shows our route 4200 km across Canada. Explored Skytrain into the city on Sunday, busy, lots of people. Walked the Waterfront, enjoyed lunch outdoors and scouted out our hotel for July 1st, the night before our cruise. T&K will have the wine ready for checkin. Kelly - hope the pool is swim ready for you. Heather - enjoy your last week at FFPS Aaron - soon summer...

Jun 25, 2016 - We made it!

We have made it to BC with a stop in Salmon Arm, a lovely little town around Shuswap Lake. Another day's drive to Chilliwack and very surprised by how bad a choice we made for an "RV park" (not), so we only stayed one night, visited my Aunt then continued westward to Aldergrove. This area is close to Vancouver so it is heavy traffic but our RV park choice for 1 more night on the road is great!! - time to do laundry when they have a very clean facility. Today, Saturday, we will check into Burnaby Cariboo RV Park for the RV's one month stay....

Oct 7, 2012 - Burnaby-Vancouver

October 7, 2012 This camp has a gym so after my routine exercises I worked out on the treadmill for a half hour. Had I known how the day would play out, I would not have done that! Today we are figuring out public transportation and how we can get to places we want to go with or without bikes. We have several maps but none are really with a darn. After breakfast we took a 45 minute ride around the Burnaby Recreation Area next to camp. Beautiful fall day again and a lovely bike ride. Met Tracey and Chris from San Antonio on the way to the...

Oct 6, 2012 - Whistler to Burnaby, Canada

October 6, 2012 For the past couple of nights Bob and I have been playing cribbage after dinner. When we camped in Europe 40 years ago, cribbage was a daily activity ( and often, most of the day activity when it was so cold we sat in the Geneva Airport to stay warm!) I was so animated that I knocked a full glass of red wine all over the rear of the rig. Thank goodness for the “snake oil” Ann Honeywell and I bought from door-to-door salesmen a many years ago. Cleaned right up! Awoke to another brisk, but gorgeous fall morning which was...

Sep 3, 2012 - Burnaby BC - Burnaby Cariboo RV Park

We took off from Quesnel this morning with the plan of stopping before we got to Vancouver, but the road was good and we made pretty good time so we pressed all the way to our RV Park just short of Vancouver. We did stop at a nice cafe in 70 Mile House at the Dusty Rose Cafe for a good lunch. We all had different things and all were excellent. I especially liked the seafood melt. There were plenty of sights and unfortunately we were just a bit late to tour Hell's Gate. Did check out the area though and definitely a place to go on another...

Mar 28, 2008 - Best Friends (what do they look like again)

Just kidding, It was nice to be able to go and see my best friends from high school. It is hard to believe this year it is twenty years ago that we graduated. Thanks for reminding me Linda. Anyway we got to spend the day with Mario, Sabrina, Vanessa, Julia & Johnathon, and with Rob, Linda, Devin and Kassia. It has been to long since we spent anytime with them. The kids are all getting way to big and it is always nice to see how well they play together. On the way there we went by a few Canadian Tire's to find that elusive GPS for Paul. He...

Nov 30, 2007 - Burnaby Wal-Mart

Friday November 30th...9:30pm Ruth had her first driving lesson with Sherman this morning. The industrial area we were parked in the night before was perfect for a little practice session. The streets were empty. Anyhow, I think she'll do fine. The toughest thing about driving Sherman is changing lanes and judging your distance from someone else using the mirrors. That's something that comes with practice and patience. We drove into Maple Ridge and found a side street to park on. We were walking distance from a number of notary publics and...

Aug 27, 2007 - Last stop in Canada, Vancouver area

We only had a 90 mile drive to arrive at Burnaby, Canada which is approximately 11 miles from Vancouver. We had heard from other RV'ers how horrendous the traffic is in Vancouver. It certainly proved to be right. The RV park is nice, but the spaces are tight. They have an indoor pool and spa and a work-out room. We decided to go downtown Vancouver the 2nd day here. The drivers are very erratic and drive aggressively. Bill's time driving to LA when he worked for the District came in handy. We tried to find parking on Robson Street, which was...
