Well we learned a little local knowledge this morning, we stopped at the spawning channels and found no salmon  and no stench of decaying fish,  seems the sockeye run on a 4 year cycle and next year is the big year.  We left Horsefly and headed back to Williams lake were I hoped to get the Chevy garage to tell me why my service engine light comes on after the transmission fails to shift back into overdrive when going up a hill.  This problem corrects itself self when the engine is turned off and restated.  Unfortunately   I erased the the...

May 21, 2008 - Barkerville, BC Historic Gold Rush Town

Tuesday... Walking tour of Quesnel following the guide book ($2 at the visitors centre). We started the walk and within a few minutes, there were a few raindrops. The volume of rain increased steadily as we continued. The brochure has many photos of the old and historic buildings, but nearly all the buildings have been replaced by contemporary buildings. There are a couple of exceptions and highlights, the Hudson's Bay Company building (now a craft sales gallery), the wooden truss bridge and the boiler from a river steam boat. As we passed...
