Oct 5, 2006 - Phu Quoc Island Bust

After a 2 1/2 hour gut wrenching Super Dong Ferry ride (no kidding - that's the name) - we arrived at a loud, pushy, garbage filled port on this supposed-to-be tropical paradise. I won't waste your time here. No photos. Muddy rain the whole time. Can't see how they plan to make this the next Bali or Phuket - which the government says it plans to do. I'll wait to see that. We cut our time here short and booked the next flight out back to Saigon...

Jul 7, 2006 - Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam

Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam Friday 7th July - Friday 14th July On friday we woke up early in Nha Trang, and caught two flights, from Nha Trang, on Vietnam's East coast to Ho Chi Minh City, then to Phu Quoc Island. Phu Quoc Island is Vietnam's largets Island and is situated in South Western Vietnam on the border with Cambodia. We spent 1 week on the island which was really underdeveloped with very few tourists. It was lovely as it was so remote and had almost been untouched by tourism, we got to see how the real local Vietnamese people live...

Apr 4, 2006 - Phuc Quoc Island, Vietnam

Hi all. I have not written for awhile, sorry. We have been chillin' on a pretty remote beach in Vietnam, about 22km from the major town of Duong Dong. Really nice here. The water is crystal clear, warm and tastes saltier than anything I have ever tasted. Not many people here, which is a nice change. The food is excellent, at least according to mommy and daddy. Not that they would ever let me sample their b-b-q crab, or hot pot delite. No, I just get stuck with "rice porridge" accompanied with mmm...mmm.. noises. Like that is supposed to...

Jan 23, 2006 - Phu Quoc Island

Off the southern tip coast of Vietnam is a wonderful island called Phu Quoc. I had the opportunity to take a 5-day trip there by myself. I had such a blast on this island. This side trip was a much needed break from relatives, mosquitoes, and mainland Vietnam. Being on Phu Quoc, I sometimes forget that I'm in Vietnam because it fairly clean and quiet! The water is clear and warm - perfect for a dip any time of the day. The people are still friendly and almost honest for Vietnam standard since the people there haven't been as exposed to...

Dec 22, 2004 - Diving off the coast of Southern Vietnam

NOTE: We have limited the number of pictures for this entry in order to keep our friends when we get back to Canada :) Yehia and Meghan continued their travels by hopping on a plane that brought them to the Southern Vietnamese island of Phu Quoc. The idea was to lounge around in the sun and soak up some rays, and maybe get some scuba diving in on the side. Upon arriving, they were whisked off to a resort, where they pampered themselves with nice accomodations, a beautiful beach and a crystal blue ocean (with the occasional jelly fish!) The...
