Jul 13, 2020 - Week 1 of Second Wave

Monday 13th July Who would have thought we would end up here 2 months down the track and back in lockdown after such a successful result from our first lockdown. It appears many people have said why bother once our dear Premier Chairman Dan, Dictator Dan, (whatever we sometimes call him) turned a blind eye to the 10,000 people who gathered for the BLM protest in the city a month ago. If 10,000 people could gather to protest about something relevant to another country, why the hell did we all sacrifice our own priorities like ANZAC Day,...

May 27, 2020 - Craft and Puzzle Update

Wednesday 27th May Update as requested of the craft and puzzle projects. Finished 50 y.o. puzzle with 3 pieces missing. I have kept out the offending area of the puzzle and will see if a very talented pencil artist who has done our pet portraits can reprodice these missing pieces. Will be able to tell they are replacements, but puzzle will be complete. Finished another 60 y.o. puzzle from my childhood and also three pieces missing. These are long term missing as they are scattered over the puzzle. Will do likewise with these three pieces...

May 15, 2020 - Some Freedom after 51 Days and Goodbye to Isolation

Friday Usual awakening this morning, 8.15ish with no assistance from the doggies. Up, got brekkie, fed dogs and then back to bed for an hour before rising and showering. John has an telehealth appointment with Pain Specialists this morning so it was off walking by ourselves again back down to Peregrine. All by ourselves down there today. Got back just as the specialist rang and John went through his consultation - they somewhat confused as to why he is consulting them at the moment as his injury in not a long term one with the pain he has...

May 14, 2020 - 50 Days at Home

Thursday John woke at 7.30 and I was cold this morning so I woke as well. It was freezing overnight. Stayed and enjoyed my cup of coffee and played Cookie Jam until 8.30 before getting up and showering and eventually feeding the dogs. They weren't too keen on getting up either until the house warmed a little when the heater turned up. John has an appointment with the hand specialist at The Alfred again this morning. Had another coffee before loading the doggies into the car for the drive down to Peregrine and our usual walk without MOTH....

May 13, 2020 - Seven Weeks at Home

Wednesday Rude awakening at 3.30am this morning when Dexter decided he wanted his breakfast and wanted it NOW. The old brute would not go away and the side of my bed now looks like it has been attacked by a wild animal. I fear he has cancer somewhere which is taking all the nutrition from his food, making him ever so hungry all the time. Old Duke our other beagalier was exactly the same. The vet keeps telling me Dexter's stomach is enlarged but unless we really want to do something about it no point in investigating further as long as he is...

May 12, 2020 - 48 Days at Home

Tuesday Exciting day today so awoke early with that internal alarm clock thingy that subconsciously makes you wake up. 7.30am and I have to get up and clean the house for the cleaner Kerry who returns today!!!! No not really. I like to have the place clear of clutter so she has a clear run through the house and bathrooms. I count on her as my 3 hours of luxury per week and so appreciate her returning that I gave her a $5 an hour pay increase. To be fair she has been cleaning for me for 6 years and has not increased her price per hour. Out...

Monday Awoke around 8.30 hemmed in between a very comfortable Maisy and a dozing MOTH. Neither moving too much but eventually we all awoke when Dexter ambled in from wherever he was hanging out (probably in Megzy's unit). Up and prepared brekkie as usual, fed the dogs, as usual, got the paper for MOTH, as usual but got up after a while around 9 to shower and start my day. Also as usual, got stuck at the jigsaw table. A little bit of progress made yesterday but not as much as I would have hoped. All discernable sections now almost completed...

Sunday Today sucks, thank you Chairman Dan Andrews for delaying relaxation of lockdown for 24 hours (maybe). Stirred early but obviously continued dozing on an off this morning until Dexter JUMPED up on the bed at 8.30. Obviously a special greeting for Mother Day from him or a reminder that it was his overdue breakfast time. Hint taken, I made my way to the kitchen to make coffee and toast and feed the critters. Maisy's tummy off again this morning with gurgling and squelching noises. She had a bit (very tiny) bit of sour cream last night...

May 9, 2020 - 45 Days at Home

Saturday Oh what a dreary day out there greeted me when I opened the bedroom curtain. 7.30 am and pouring with rain and so dull and gray. Bed seems like a good place to remain. Breakfast and coffee attended to, paper retrieved and doggies fed. Snuggled back up in bed with an episode of Doc Martin. Hardly think we will miss anything groundbreaking on the news, except Chairman Dan Andrews our beloved and esteemed Premier is holding steadfast to lockdown until at least Monday's announcement. Can't let one's ego get in the way can we. Gripe...

Friday Bet you thought you were going to read same old first paragraph. Well, hold on to those hats folks because MOTH was awake and out of bed first at 8.45 this morning and fishing and rattling around in the kitchen cupboards (including my nice tidy plastics cupboard God forbid it lasted not even 24 hours) looking for Eggo (his real name by the way) our cute little yellow egg with feet egg cooker. It was MOTH's turn to cook eggs for breakfast, well he is the only one who cooks eggs for breakfast as he correctly tells me I overcook them....

Thursday Dogs leaving us alone in the morning at the moment. Maybe they are as bored as we are! Woke around 8.30 and I do not have to tell you all what happened next - we are very routine bound and predictable in this house at the moment. Up at around 9.30 and showered as per usual. I had one sniff of victory this morning in the bathroom wars. MOTH has been growing this stupid little curled up moustache for months and I had bought him a tin of wax to keep it under control. After our shower every morning, the moustache gets groomed and...

May 6, 2020 - Six Weeks at Home

Wednesday 8.30 wake up this morning all by myself!!! You now the drill definitely after 6 weeks - up breakfast, feed doggies, back to bed, Sunrise and Cookie Jam and also Words with Friends (which I have failed to mention previously - online Scrabble). Up, hairwash day, clean the shower glass while showering (too pooped and sore in shoulders yesterday on cleaning day - 6 more days till Kerry comes!!) Second cup of coffee then saddle up the doggies for a walk down to the football oval at Eildon Parade. They haven't been there for a few days...
