Monday March 28 Murtoa What is wrong with us? Didn’t get up until 8.15am – and it was bloody freezing! We are now in track suits, the feather doona is out and we’re into shoes and socks! Lighting the pot belly stove was a necessity. The farm house is 100 years old this year and has many changes over time – certainly more comfortable than I remember as a child. Cooked farm breakfast started the day, then off to visit the local “sights”. The cemetery is fascinating, so many names that I know from my childhood – and all my grandparents are...

Mar 27, 2016 - Kerang to Murtoa

Sunday March 27 Kerang to Murtoa via Boort/Charlton/Donald/Rupanyup/Horsham What happened to the warm weather? Got up to about 10 degrees and one of those typical chilling winds that I remember so well as a child. Love driving through this part of the country as there are small towns every few klms. Boort is a very old town dating back to the early 1800’s – in its heyday there were 4 butcher shops; now there is only 1 and lots of empty shops – typical of so many country towns.
