Aug 23, 2014 - Mount Hotham and Dinner Plain

On the second day we went up a different mountain, Mount Hotham. It's taller and has much more snow. Towards the top there are no trees and the snow was piled up high on the side of the road. In some sections they had metal barriers on the side of the road next to sheer drop offs. They were buckled and bent where cars had slid in the snow and hit them, they probably saved a lot of people from cannoning over the cliffs. Aug 21, 2014 - Mount buffalo - waterfalls and beautiful forest

Mount buffalo is awesome. The drive up the mountain is visually spectacular, with fabulous views and beautiful eucalypt forests with cold clear streams running over waterfalls and rapids. We stopped halfway up the mountain, below the snowline, to do a walk trail that went past 3 waterfalls. The bottom fall was the gorgeous Ladie's Bath falls. This had a beautiful clear swimming hole surrounded by ferns and mossy green rocks.
