Mar 14, 2019 - Dubai

Dubai Wednesday 27 February Ok, so we boarded and took off on time and 14 hours later we arrived in Dubai. We think we both managed to get to sleep for quite a while after dinner and a movie. A bit bumpy from time to time. Passed through the vast terminal building, collected bags and got the car. Driven out to Manuela and Guido’s villa in a tightly controlled residential estate. The sun was just coming up and it was hazy. Wide roads, especially the main highway through the emirate, the Sheik Zayed Road which varied between six and eight...

Feb 26, 2019 - Last days in Australia

Kilmore Sunday 24 February Up bright and early, complete our packing, collected Carolyn from her B and B and headed off to the airport. The warmest day for a while, shame we are leaving! Arrived at the airport without incident, dropped all the bags, then dropped the car, checked in, pass through security, all with just under half an hour to spare before boarding. Easy! Canberra to Kilmore 13 December So out through Canberra and north to Yass to join the Hume Highway, the main road between Sydney and Melbourne. Yass is another little historical town, with buildings from early days of settlement. The town is now bypassed by the Hume Highway, a motorway at this point which we joined shortly after. On down the motorway, the rain had stopped and it was hot and humid. On through rolling hills, gradually climbing to a pass through the hills and then dropping into the next valley, terrain we crossed for many...

Nov 13, 2018 - Kilmore

Kilmore 11 November. 2 hour boat trip to Gladstone, then an hour’s flight to Brisbane, followed by a 2 hour flight to Melbourne, pick up the car and an hour’s drive to Kilmore, we finally made it to arrive at Carolyn’s at 10.30 that night. Each part of the journey wasn’t too bad, it was all the waiting around in between that became tiresome, but Carolyn had opened a bottle of wine so in a short while all seemed well with the world! It was lovely to meet up with Jane and Tudor, who were staying with Carolyn. They had had a great time in...
