Another day around mum’s finishing off things we have started, ie Ian painting the railing around the front patio, me finishing the weeding I started the other day, and getting ready to hit the road again tomorrow. I did a load of washing and stocked up on grocery items and Ian actually gave the van a wash all over! It looks a totally different colour! We’ll see how long it lasts. Not much to write about, but in actual fact, quite a busy day!

After taking the dogs for their morning run around the football oval Ian and I organised ourselves to drive down to Warrnambool. Mum was happy to dog sit again, so we were on the road by about 10.30am and in Warrnambool by about 11.30. We had a couple of stops at Spotlight and Bunnings, then went into the centre of town where Ian dropped me off so that I could meet up with some of the girls with whom I had done my nursing training. (Ian went off for a haircut and to look for a new fishing rod!). We had arranged to meet at the Quorum Club at...

Total change in the weather today from fine and sunny to wet and miserable. We took the dogs for a very quick walk around the oval trying to dodge showers but not quite succeeding as we all were quite wet by the time we got home. My friend Margaret from high school days came over at about 11.30 and she and I went to Lake Edge for lunch (it is the in place to go for lunch around here these days!). Lois wasn’t quite so busy today, so were able to have a bit more of a chat than yesterday. Lunch was absolutely delicious again- most of the...

An absolutely beautiful day weather wise today. We took the dogs to the vet first thing for their annual vaccinations. Ruby stayed behind for a bit longer so that the vet could sedate her to cut her toenails. I picked her up (awake but a bit dopey) around 10am, then took mum upto the doctors for a regular blood test. By the time we got home Kathryn had arrived for a visit. We had a cup of coffee, then went to a fairly new local cafe for lunch. The cafe is called Lake Edge, and is a converted school house that has been relocated on the edge...

Fairly quiet day around the house today. We took the dogs for a run around the local football ground after breakfast, then Ian's job for the day was to paint a new door that he is going to fit to mum's garage. I caught up on a few more chores around the house and the van, but otherwise, nothing much really of interest to report from today.

Ian and I were on the road to Melbourne by 9.15am this morning whilst Chilli and Ruby stayed home with Grandma. We had an uneventful 2hour plus drive into Port Melbourne where we met up with Ian's sister, Irene, at the Noom Duck cafe`. Irene and her partner, Russell, went on holiday to Tasmania last October, and loved it so much, bought a bed and breakfast there, came back to Brisbane to sell their house and organise everything to relocate themselves to Sheffield, Tasmania. Talk about a whirlwind for them, but it has all come together, and...

Stayed around mum's again today catching up on a bit more general cleaning and other odd jobs. The main aim for today was to wash the dog bedding and clean the car inside and out. It was a perfect day for getting washing dry and getting saturated while washing the car. The car is going to take a few goes at getting really clean, but after vacuuming half a beach out of the back seat alone, it is certainly a lot cleaner this afternoon than this morning! So, overall, not anything particularly exciting to report today!

Quiet day at mum's today. Weather is much cooler thank goodness, and has turned out to be a really lovely day. First priority was to do some washing, then we had a wonderful family Skype chat with Helen and Richard and Robyn and Bjorn (kiwi Chandler relatives) for Helen's birthday. Then, other than taking David back to Camperdown to catch the train back to Melbourne late afternoon the day has been spent pottering around mum's place.

Jan 7, 2017 - Macarthur to Cobden

Kathryn came down to say goodbye as we packed up this morning. It has been great to see her and her family and the camp at Macarthur sports reserve has been perfect for this visit. We were on the road by about 10.30am and in Warrnambool by 11.30 where we had to have a quick stop at caravan place to get the lock on our caravan door replaced. The drum had fallen out with the key this morning, so it was very handy to pass a caravan shop today of all days. We were at mum's place in Cobden by about 12.30-just in time for lunch. It was quite...
