Dec 9, 2014 - Wildlife abounds at Bimbi Campground

The Great Ocean Road begins at the coast south of Melbourne and runs west along the Southern Ocean to Portland, Australia. We hit Bell's Beach, a surfer town and the first beach we came to, before continuing on to Cape Otway. We camped at Bimbi Campground for three days while exploring this area, which turned out to be a huge highlight with all of the wildlife, rainforest, and coastal fun Cape Otway has in store. Driving up to the campgrounds, we spotted kangaroos in the fields by the side of the road and several koalas grasping branches...

Nov 3, 2010 - Cape Otway

3rd November Cape Otway Today we got on to the great ocean road trail up to Melboune. We managed to get lost in a few villages getting onto the road but then it was plain sailing. Although i hit a kukaburra and cried. We've spent weeks swirving for birds and mice but this one was just too close it would have been fruitless and dangerous to break for it as there was a car on the other side of the road. Mar 28, 2007 - Cape Otway National Park - TO BE COMPLETED

Cape Otway region....and the LOVELY Apollo Bay.... Cape Otway Lighthouse... Bimbi campsite - walkee talkee thing... and Very Noisy Koalas! Also inland there are nice temperate rainforests and waterfalls, including the Triplet falls - although not much water in the waterfalls at the moment - even though it was raining when I was there. Maybe by end of winter they will be more spectacular. They were pretty walks anyway. Perils of driving my van up to lookouts is that it might start rolling backwards down the hill!!
