Mar 20, 2020 - The end is nigh

I haven't had the time or inclination to write anything here over the last week, it's been quite hectic. We spent a few days cleaning out and packing up mum's unit ready to sell and moved her into a nursing home which was a bit stressful, but she's settled in ok, so hopefully all will stay positive. Last weekend we took the kids rock wall climbing and roller skating. They had 3 hours of good fun. Winta stuck to the wall for most of the time but the other 2 were off and rolling after a couple of rounds. Then we went to the park for a...

Mar 8, 2020 - It's all go

We made a last minute decision to go in to see the firework display at Moomba in the city last night. So it was a late night as they didn't start until 9.30pm and by the time we made it back to Bunyip it was 11.30. So the girls slept in this morning. Levi had gone with Ben down to Somerville to be there early this morning to set up the machines for the show today. Ben, his cousin, and his Uncle David were busy working on one of the old machines when we arrived. The kids waited very patiently in the queue to have a go on the jumping...

Mar 7, 2020 - Bunyip

With a stop over in Lake Tabourie where it rained all day, we had a walk through the burnt out bush which came very close to Alan & Cheryl's property, then around to the beach. This was the fire danger on that day. We drove for close to 4 hours at between 80kmph and 100kmph and nearly the whole time we only saw this burnt out bush. There were towns that had a house dotted here and there that had burnt to the ground while everything around them was still standing. This is how green and lovely it should look. Then we arrived at Bunyip...

Aug 17, 2019 - Just another day on the farm

A lovely day of sunshine to get outside and enjoy the farm. The whips came out and even Grandad decided to have a go. Didn't last long - once he clonked himself on the head he gave up. Grandad fixed Ella's chair swing which had fallen out of the tree after the rope snapped. The ducks were having a great time eating up all the bugs after the rain. The cows had to be rounded up as 3 of them are going to market this week. It took a bit of doing but they got there eventually. I'm not sure the rounder uppers would be any good on a...

Aug 15, 2019 - A great birthday

What a great day. We awoke to lovely sunshine and the temperature even reached 17 deg for a short time. We had High Tea at the Longwarry Primary School.Levi's class were the cooks and waiters for the day. It was delicious and very well done. All the kids did a fantastic job of serving the food and asking everyone what they would like to drink. Then we went to the pub for dinner - Chicken Parma for me, of course, which was delicious. Even had candles to blow out on the chocolate mud cake. The kids were very well behaved...

Aug 10, 2019 - It's all go

We haven't stopped since we arrived. Chiropractor, dentist, playing with kids and visiting. This pic is the kids with the animals I crocheted for them - the girls have hippos and Levi has a dragon. They were very impressed with them. Grandad helped Winta to paint the suncatcher. Today we spent the day at Science works. They are tired kids and we are tired grandparents. A great time was had by all. Its a great place to take kids as they can touch everything and learn how lots of things work. WE've had quite a lot of rain over the last...

Aug 6, 2019 - London to Melbourne via Perth

After a half hour delay due to someone not turning up for the flight so their luggage had to be removed form the hold, then the pilot having to negotiate a new departure appointment, we finally joined the queue at Heathrow and took off.. It was a good flight and we were quite happy with the 16 3/4 hour flight. With an hour and a half stop in Perth then on our way again landing in Melbourne 15 minutes early, our bags came out first and we were straight out of the airport in no time. A good nights sleep and we surprised the...

Jan 13, 2019 - Just another day on the farm

Today was drenching, tagging and the 2 new male babies, Fred & George had their private parts rubber banded!!! The kids all tagged along, either just watching or helping with the gates and calming down the babies. Ella was a very good help The very fat pregnant cow just managed to squeeze through the race. It was very, very windy today, and we had a bit of a rough time taking down the taj mahal and packing it all away, but it all ended well in a neat and tidy package.

Jan 12, 2019 - Everything including the kitchen sink!

The new camper came home this morning. Sarah & Ben have been saving up/ paying it off for the last 6 months. So we all had a good gander while they put it up. The kids gave a helping hand too. Ella helped to put knots into the tie ropes with some instructions from Grandad. It's a fabulous camper with tons of room and should see them well into the future. In the afternoon we had a visit from Joseph & Ana & their son, Noel, and Joseph's parents. It was a beautiful day and Noel had a great time on the farm running around with the...

Jan 11, 2019 - Gold ?

We took the kids to Walhalla the old gold mining town, today. We had a train ride - 20 minute ride to the Thomson Station, a 20 minute stop while they shunt the engine around and then the ride back to Walhalla. Going over very rickety bridges had them a bit worried, but we all enjoyed the trip. Then we stopped at the river on the way back to let them try out their new gold pans which they got for Christmas. Sorry to say we didn't come home any richer, but they had some fun and enjoyed splashing around in the river as it was a hot...

Jan 10, 2019 - A fun day

Tuesday saw me with an unexpected 2 and a half hours in the dentist chair having pre crown work done on 2 teeth. Not happy Jan!!!!! $3000 later and my jaw felt like it was never going to close again! Then I have to return next Tuesday for the crowns to be fitted. On a much brighter note today we discovered the Seville Water Park. The kids had an absolutely fabulous time running in and out of the water spouts. It's an old swimming pool that has been adapted and is a great place - it's even free. A nice park surrounds it with lots of...
