This morning we docked on the island of Tasmania, our first Australian port of call. We had to go through Customs early in the morning since we had an 8:30 a.m. tour. We traveled to the top of Mt. Wellington for spectacular vistas of the town, visited the Botanical Gardens, and toured Hobart, a penal colony and then whaling town dating back to the early 1800's. The town is dotted with gingerbread style houses, very old but charmingly restored whaling captain cottages and some old mansions. The "Tassies" are very friendly, with very thick...
