Mar 4, 2014 - The Sunshine Coast

It took about an hour and a half to complete the swap, by which time it was 4.30 and we had to find a campsite. So we headed North on the M1, the Bruce Highway, to Beerwah where we turned off to Coochin Creek and a Queensland National Park campsite. Quite small but only half a dozen other campers, so quiet and right alongside the Creek. It did mean there were plenty of mosquitos but the camper had flyscreens all round so we were safe as long as we didn't spend too long outside. Lots of kookaburras and some song birds we could hear but not...

off we go!

Apr 18, 2013 - Noosa

April 16 - 19 An early start on Tuesday as we went to Australia Zoo on the way to Noosa. Crikey! We had a good time. We learnt you can out run a Croc on land but not in the water. Not really sure if I want to test the theory, although the keepers got pretty close to them in the show. Arrived at Noosa River Caravan Park at about 4ish, just as a thunderstorm hit. It passed pretty quickly and the days have been warm and sunny. The surf has been good at Sunshine beach, haven't made it to the nudie beach yet, it is a bit of a hike to get there....

Dec 24, 2012 - Days 1 & 2 - Sunshine Coast

Day 1 What a great start to the Malyon adventure 2012/13. We left home on 21st at 16:00 and arrived in Brisbane at 06:45 on the 23rd. Everything went really smoothly and thanks to Helen and Richard we had a lovely start to the holiday at The One Lounge in Heathrow. We picked up the hire car and drove straight up the coast to meet our friends in Noosa on the Sunshine Coast. Quick cocktail in the hotel, as you do, and it was down to the beach to catch our first, but certainly not the last of our surfing fun. Of course we clearly stood out as...

Oct 27, 2012 - Noosa Qld

Noosa: 27 - 30 October 2012 Back on the mainland we continued our journey south to Noosa which was a big contrast to Fraser Island. With smooth bike paths everywhere we rip-sticked our way around Noosa and it’s surrounding suburbs to the kids delight. We visited a strawberry farm and picked 2kg's of the most delicious strawberries you have ever tasted. Bronte & I ONLY ate 1kg of chocolate dipped strawberries whilst at the farm - we didn't want to over do it! Sean & I tried out "kite surfing" and are now hooked! It looks like Sean's day off...

Oct 6, 2012 - The Sunshine Coast

This area is eight hours south of Yeppoon. Charlie took an extra long weekend so we had 4 days. So now we have been north, south, east & west of Yeppoon. Noosa had lots of great restaurants so that was a pleasant change. On Saturday we went to the "hinterland" - Montville & Eumundi market which has 500 + stalls selling everything you can think of. It is bigger than La Penita or Mesa Market. I bought a unique wind chime from the fellow playing the "hang". This is a brand new instrument invented in 2000 by someone in Switzerland. It sounds...

Aug 2, 2011 - Noosa/Tewantin

Noosa/Tewantin – 9 July to 23 July (14 nights) The 214km drive from the Gold Coast to Noosa/Tewantin was good, besides the GPS losing itself (and us) in the heart of Brisbane. We had selected “Yes" to the "Do you want to avoid Toll roads" option(not because of the cost – about $20, but the hassle you have to go through to actually pay the toll if you’re a visitor – but that’s another story) and this resulted in the bloody thing directing us off the motorway and slap bang into the centre of Brisbane’s CBD. It then proceeded to go walkabout...

I saw this quote on my last day in Australia, before flying home. It seems to capture my thoughts as I close this chapter, this great adventure we're on, and preparing to open the next one: Jump to full entry

Dec 8, 2010 - Noosa

A pretty upmarket seaside town, full of gorgeous cliff top houses, beaches and surfers. We stayed in the highly recommended and aptly named 'flashpackers', a v new hostel with comfy lounge chairs, power showers, free breakfast and even TWO pillows each! Weather not especially sunny so instead of beaching we went on a mammoth walk, taking in a few beaches and the cliff tops between, including a nudist beach mostly inhabitated by strolling older gentlemen, lovely! We had our packed lunched on one of the cliff edges while watching a school of...

Sania´s travels...

Jun 16, 2010 - Noosa & Australia Zoo

On the way to Noosa we stopped at Surfers Paradise where we left Claire, Stew and Matt as they also need to make a stop at Brisbane after Surfers. The next stop for us was Brisbane and then we finally made it to Noosa. At the transit centre we bumped into Miriam who was part of the group with us from Sydney to the first night in Byron, and she was headed to Rainbow Beach next. Paul, Harriette and I checked into Halse Lodge together and our room was opposite Anna, Laura and Lindsay who have also been with us since Sydney. With not much to do...

Jun 7, 2009 - Neat in Noosa

Thursday 4th June 2009 We have torrential rain overnight and are glad to be waking up in the dry and secure apartment. But, as the day dawns things dry out and the sky clears and so we plan to leave and head south. Though a quick trip to the beach is in order as it will almost be low tide! Though, as we stroll along the tide is not that far out and a little way along the beach we meet a 4 X 4 driver coming from the opposite end who seems to be perplexed that the last section of beach is impassable – what a bummer as the distance he has...
