May 23, 2016 - Chinchilla to Moura

Monday 23 May Left Chinchilla at 9am as planned. Lovely little town and much bigger than expected. Had thought of checking out the local craft shop, but we gave in to the boys and headed straight out of town. Our first stop was a lovely park in Wandoan. After our morning chat and refreshments, we headed off to Theodore. Checked out the free camp there at Junction Park, which is very nice. After a quick discussion, decided to have lunch there and continue on to Moura to Dawson River free camp. The drive has been uneventful so far, and most...

May 23, 2016 - Chinchilla to Moura

23/5/2016 Monday. A good night's sleep and on the road at 9am. Well done all. Morning tea stop at Wandoan and lunch at Theodore. We had thought we might stay at the free camp here, but decided to push on an extra 50+ km to Dawson River free camp west of Moura. Lots of vans there, but still plenty of room for us plus others who came in later. The river levels were low and blue-green algae on the water. I cooked main course for dinner - a lovely quick and easy chicken dish Jan had given me the recipe for, and Pam provided dessert, Apple cake...

Sep 26, 2015 - to Moura

SATURDAY 26th Sept We were determined last night not to let the day get away from us so we even had the alarm set this morning to make sure we didn't sleep in. Departure from Glebe Weir was at 9:30 as planned and our morning tea was at Theodore on the roundabout. Sounds peculiar - but there is a very large roundabout in the main street with playground and picnic tables in the middle. Very nice, but the town is very deserted. Headed north after internal sustenance replenishment towards Banana but were distracted by a sign that said "Dawson...

Jul 4, 2015 - Day 7 / 8 - Moura / Dawson River Apex Park

We would like to have gone on to Bauhinia tonight as the camp spot at the store there has good reports and seems to have everything including power, water washing machine, all for $10/ night. Being Saturday, however, we wanted a church for Sunday and it looks too small to guarantee a service so here we are at Moura on the banks of the Dawson River, along with perhaps 50 or so other vans! Still there's plenty of room but only one toilet and one shower and did we need that shower after a couple of days without one and my back and legs...

Jul 21, 2010 - Moura

21st July Maura Extremely early start then a huge bus journey brought us to Maura in the middle of nowhere. There's literaly nothing here nowhere we could buy clothes or shoes if we needed. One grocery shop one pharmacy one hairdressers a hardwear store, three cafes one libary a police station and the coal 'n' cattle hotel motel. We were picked up and shown to our motel room which is actually quite sizeable. A double and a single bed, en suite, fridge, tv, desk and a ironing boars which were posing as a dressing table. We met everyone and...
