Nov 11, 2013 - Moreton Island

Jul 9, 2011 - It's All the Ocean

After breakfast this morning, we went back to our hotel rooms to get on swim suits. Then we went down to the beach and divided into groups of eight. I was in Hero's group. We donned wetsuits and fins and goggles and then went to the pool to practice snorkeling. After we all got used to the breathing we went down to the beach again. We got on the boat bobbing just off shore and sat down on the metal benches. It took ten minutes for the boat to be driven down to the ship wrecks. The sea was choppy and the people in front got splashed every...

Jul 8, 2011 - Sea, Sand and Dolphins

We had breakfast at eight and then left by bus. We drove to Brisbane and had lunch at the mall in town. My group went to a place where we got meat pies, soda, and cake. After that, my group went to the Crystal Journey store next door. It was a very interesting store. We drove to the entrance of the ferry and dropped off our luggage before getting on the ferry. We sat down inside the small ferry and listened as Mike told us all we needed to know and passed out room keys and barf bags. Soon after We got underway I went topside. I went up the...

Oct 5, 2009 - Wale, Wellen, Wein

Jun 28, 2008 - Moreton Island NOT Fraser Island!

Was meant to be off to Fraser Island today but due to lack of numbers I ended up on a tour of Moreton Island. In retrospect, it was a mad trip I was sold for Fraser Island as it meant going there and back in one day. It's four hours driving to Fraser Island and obviously the same back. Would have spent more time driving than on the island. A great shame as this was the main reason for coming to Brisbane. Planning was a bit duff really! Brisbane though was worth the visit and I thoroughly enjoyed the trip to Moreton.Much more relaxed than...

Jul 30, 2007 - Morton Island adventures

Well the plan of leaving Brisbane and going Whale watching didn't happen straight away. On the 26th went to a backpackers internet café for a talk on all the different packages available and was sold on one that went to Morton Island, which is just about 28 km off the coast of Brisbane. It sounded great but I was umming and rrring about the price. Eventually I decided to go with it and I'm really glad I did. It was a 4WD tour with a camp over night and I left on Saturday morning at 7am. It was a little nippy when I went outside to meet the...
