Mar 3, 2014 - Maroochydore - Nambour

Saturday 1st March Before we left Gympie we did a small self drive tour around the town, this is interesting as it explains a lot about the history of the town and shows you some of the historic buildings. This tour only took us and hour, so we were back and hooked up by 10am. We headed off down the Bruce Hwy towards Noosa. Nothing interesting happened on this drive, we got to Noosa in about 1 hour, this was interesting because the area was EXTREMELY busy, we had the van still connected and I haven't seen so many round abouts as what they...

Sep 6, 2013 - Maroochydore

Monday we we headed to Mooloolabah where we had lunch at the fish market. Drove to Kawana Waters where we spent time wandering around the shopping centre for a few hours before returning to the van Tuesday we donned our hats & walking shoes & walked along the river across the road from the Caravan Park. A little windy today but still warm and sunny. After lunch we headed to explore Coolum and Noosa. Walked along the main street of Noosa and bought an icecream that we ate sitting on the board walk watching those brave enough to be in the...

Sep 1, 2013 - Maroochydore

Father's Day today & we are missing being with the kids today. Headed off to the Maroochydore Baptist Church. Great service, sermon about Fatherhood. Very good music & singing, but most of the songs were unfamiliar to us. Back to the van for BBQ lunch followed by an afternoon of reading & relaxation.

Aug 31, 2013 - Trip to Brisbane

Today we organised to visit Rod & Helen in Brisbane. We left the park just after 9 and thanks to our trusty GPS. and directions given by Rod, we arrived at 10.50. A series of tunnels made getting to Kangaroo Point very easy. We enjoyed a great lunch (home made tomato soup by Rod & a very delicious warm chicken salad made by Helen) We headed down to the river after lunch and spent an enjoyable couple of hours walking before returning to their unit. We arrived back at the van around 6pm after a great day catching up with Rod & Helen

Aug 30, 2013 - Bundaberg to Maroochydore

We departed Bundaberg at 8.10 keen to get to Maroochydore for our next longer stay. We travelled through Childers, Maryborough, Tiaro and Gympie before arriving at Maroochydore around 12noon. Only 273 klms today. We are staying at Maroochy Palms Big 4 park and have our own ensuite. We spent time here two years ago, and find it a great place to relax and unwind. Again we had fine weather, temperature in the mid twenties. After setting up we ventured to Sunshine Plaza shopping centre to re-stock the larder. We attempted to watch a movie, but...

Oct 1, 2012 - Maroochydore

This is the life! We found a beautiful park right on the beach but it’s a tad expensive at $42 per night. Everything is at your fingertips on the Sunshine Coast – real civilisation. The Maroochy River Caravan Park is lovely, not real big sites but very well planned, and the amenities are spotless. Lots of permanent residents, also a village down the back for aged persons. Day 2 and the first port-of-call was the Ettamogah Pub. Barry and I were seated in the bar at 10.30am having a beer. Not quite the done thing but I loved the place. It has...

Oct 26, 2011 - CARAVAN PHOTOS

Hi All, Well we promised those of you who had asked about the caravan some details, well here they are and we will try and keep it brief. Effectively the van has 3 main sources of power. Gas, 12 volt (off 2 on board batteries) and normal domestic 240 volts so depending where we are depends on how we set her up for the night. Whilst driving the only thing running inside the van is the 2 door fridge/freezer powered off the car battery but only when the engine is running. When we stop at a caravan park we plug into their 240 volts and connect...

Aug 17, 2011 - Maroochydore - Aug 15 - 21

Once settled in to the Cotton Tree Holiday Park, with our stunning views out over the ocean/river mouth, we walked to Connie's home to say hello. The Sunshine Plaza is worth seeing - is built over the river and the eateries all have riverside seating - amazing. Caught up with Flip and John the following evening for dinner at their place up in Buderim. Spent some time at the Queensland Air Museum where there are loads of aircraft covering the history of Qld aviation - very well done, too. John and Flip came in their boat, pulling up just in...

Apr 5, 2011 - Maroochydore

1st April. On the road again, we are heading to Maroochydore. It is just over 100klms from Brisbane on the Sunshine Coast (that’s a laugh it’s raining yet again) We arrived at the Mudjimba Beach Caravan Park at lunchtime (nice park, good amenities) The charger hasn’t charged the power system, so we went and had the battery checked and it’s flat, so more expense $425 later for a new one, Wayne connected it only to find it still wasn’t working so he phoned the makers of the charger and they said there is a special sensor that obviously hasn’t...

Feb 12, 2010 - January update

Can you believe it - February already?? So what have we been up to? Well let me think...... January was a busy month work wise. After some time off over Christmas Ken went back to his job at the caravan park and I went back to school. Both of us found (and still find) it really hard dealing with the humidity. As Ken works outside all day he really feels it - he finds that within 10 minutes of starting work he is soaking with sweat. It really really drains you. The job in the park is OK - nothing too exciting but at least it is a job. As...

Dec 13, 2009 - Sunshine Coast

We headed to a Marrochydore Caravan Park, and headed to the first one that had a kids club advertised. Travel weary? not us!! Actually it was great, we'd put the kids into kids club, which they thought was fabulous, and we'd nick off to the shops to get christmas shopping done, or we'd duck down to Alexandra headland for some surfing, just the two of us, it was nice. We'd then laze around the pool or go back to the shops to catch up with more presents. Caught up with and old friend Kylie Claverino, and baby Isla and now expecting baby...
