May 14, 2016 - Day 28

Day 28 Drove round Gladstone and checked out the refinery. More of the same country but it is getting drier, Looked for cotton shirts for me but no luck. Drove down to the Capricorn Caves, didn’t get to do them as there was a wedding, If you don’t find a campsite by 3pm you luck out as the grey nomads and their caravans take over. Looks mainly cattle in this area as we’ve not seen a sheep since Victoria/N.S.W.

Mar 6, 2009 - Onward from Airlie Beach

Friday March 6 Friday was a travel day. We did the laundry again this morning, a chore that needs doing even on holiday. Then we headed south, hopefully away from the cyclone “Hamish” that is tracking down the east coast of Queensland. We took a side trip up to Eungella National Park (pronounced “young gulla”) which claims to be the best place in Australia to see the elusive duck-billed platypus.
