Jun 22, 2010 - Kroombit Cattle Station

On the way to Kroombit, we went through a small place called Biloela. We were probably told something interesting about it, but I don't remember what it was right now! We arrived at the Cattle Station and were taken straight for lunch, your choice, most people had steak, and as much salad as you wanted, the beetroot was pretty good. Then we had a talk from the cowboy guy on the horse called Andy about our itinerary for the evening. We bought cowboy hats, bandana scarfs and checked into our cabins. Then we had to go straight to the activity...

Dec 7, 2007 - Kroombit Cattle Station

After 1770 we headed towards Kroombit and the goat cattle station. The journey took about 4 hours to reach Kroombit. Once we arrived at about 2pm we had lunch which was Steak, and then went off to go Goat Mustering on a horse, this was good fun we first all got assigned a horse mine was called 'Snip'. We then started to walk towards the fields where the goats were roaming around, when we got to the goats we had to start shouting at the goats which was pretty fun as it was quite a funny call. Once we started to call some of the goats moved...

Dec 3, 2007 - 1770 to Kroombit

Our bus picked us up at 7am and we we're off on our way again, this time to 1770. (where Captain cook landed as the second person in May 1770) a bit of history for you. We had a stop off for food in Childers, a small town and drove through Buderburg, sadly we didn't get a look around the famous rum factory there. Oz experience doesn't take you directly to 1770 as this isn't one of their stops, they drop you off nearby about 11pm and organise a shuttle bus to take you in to your hostel 'cool banana's was our stop. The hostels pretty cool,...

Jan 29, 2007 - Cattle Station

The Cattle Station was a good laugh but not all it's cracked up to be. I was a bit annoyed about having to pay for the activities considering Noel and I have paid over the odds for a bus ticket from Byron Bay to Cairns. We haven't had many free activities. Anyway I still had a go mustering the Cattle on horseback, and branding a Goat (Cold Brand). The Horse riding was interesting. I was kicking the crap out of mine to move but she just was having it. Such is my luck with Women...... :-) Turns out she was having a crap. If only she'd said I...

John's Trip to Oz

May 31, 2006 - Hervey Bay - Kroombit (Cattle Station)

We were the first up out of our Fraser Island group as our Oz Exp bus left at 7.30am. We would be heading to a Cattle Station in a place called Kroombit. Our new driver was called Laurence and he seemed like a really cool bloke, who was remarkably lively for that time of the morning, but that was good as he helped us wake up a bit! Laurence explained that the next 2 days would be mainly focussed on driving as we had a lot of distance to cover, with not much in between. He was happy to play us some movies to help the time pass by on the long...
