Oct 4, 2016 - Heading to NSW and daylight saving

It was a fast run down from Mooloolaba so we decided to sail as far into Moreton Bay as possible rather than stop in the northern part. We ended up at Peel Island which is popular with the locals and being the Saturday of a long week end and the end of the school holidays, it was certainly busy. We have not seen that many boats anchored in one place since Airlie Beach. Moreton Bay was also busy with many pleasure craft and fishermen enjoying the fine weather. The Marine radio chatter was non stop. There were many whale sightings along our...

Jun 12, 2016 - On the road again

Although the weather after the storm cleared to warm sunny days, the seas remained angry with a large swell. We ended staying in Coffs Harbour a longer than we had hoped and has put us behind schedule. If it looks like we cannot make it to Darwin before cyclone season starts, we will just holiday in the Whitsundays and sail back from there. Coffs Harbour marina hopes to be reopen to visiting vessels in 3 months, in time for our return. I suspect the circumnavigation will be "on" again next year. Whilst in Coffs Harbour we went for long...

Jul 31, 2015 - Days 187 - 208 UPDATE NOTES

Hi All, So you all thought the adventure was over didn’t you, sorry it’s not quite yet as the house construction is still a work in progress but progressing well and quickly. In the interim we are not wasting time, we spent nearly 2 weeks on “the coast” as we call it near home in a caravan park on the Broadwater and celebrated Tim’s 30th birthday plus caught up with a few friends where we could. We did a bit of the boring stuff you need to do every so often like scripts for pills and thrills from the doc, drivers licences etc etc etc. That...

Jul 7, 2015 - Day 163 - 175 UPDATE NOTES

Hi All, Heading home, well to the Gold Coast, it’s a danger when we turn the car in the right direction, she takes off and as ever it did it again. Actually we had planned to be home around the 7th July so we can join the family for various celebrations and we will probably be on the coast for maybe just over a month before we head off on short trips again . On the way home stops were made at Barcaldine, Tambo, Charleville, Roma and the final night at Dalby, towns which we had never had a good look at before and some which deserve another...

Apr 29, 2015 - Days 94 - 99 UPDATE NOTES

Hi All, We have heard about The Grampians, a mountain range in Western Victoria or the region they call The Wimmera. What a sight to behold. Using Halls Gap as our base which is located on the eastern edge you can comfortably drive all around and over the mountain range. We did all the drives and some of the walks and were in awe of the scenery. We were not however in awe of the cold nights about 6 degrees in the early morning and about 12 during the day and windy. Luckily the photos just show the scenery so when we look back we will forget...

Susie and I left home on the 3rd Feb 2015. We headed down to Grafton to see Mavis and Barry (Mum & Dad) and then onto their Annual Birthday bash at Brooms Head on 6th Feb where we stayed a week. Highly recommend this camping ground right on the beach. It is now the 3rd March when I started this program. Please excuse any doubling up while I'm learning the ropes....

Nov 7, 2014 - Last Supper

David played Golf at 6 am at the RACV Royal Pines. It was quite a nice day. We got a cart and drove around the back nine holes. It is lots of fun driving around the course, but probably we should have walked just to get the exercise. Today we Packed up ready for our move tomorrow and tonight we went out for dinner with Evi and Martin to Omeros restaurant at Marina Mirage. It was a little cool and breezy so we sat inside overlooking the water. It was a very nice meal. You always know a nice meal when you feel good afterwards. We had a...

We drove down to he coast and had fish and chips at Burleigh Heads. It is apparently a very nice fish and chip shop. Quite expensive. The four of us had lunch on the promenade and Evi had packed us all a salad. Afterwards we walked along the beach and then discovered very black clouds coming. We headed back to the car and just made it before the down pour. Evi and I Picked up Hannah from school. She was very frightened of the thunder and lightening. We took her home and visited Emma and the girls in their newly renovated home. The Storm...
