Oct 6, 2017 - Murder mystery

It was so nice to sleep in an actual bed! Although the room wouldn't stay cool, it was still nice. Today's drive was a bit of a longer one. Almost 8 hours. Made a couple stops along the way... one at a mall to get food and shop. The other, at a gas station just to use the bathroom. We arrived in Emu Park around 4ish. Before stopping at the hotel, we walked by the bay lookout and the war memorial. After the walk, we checked into the hotel, and most of us jumped in the pool. The water was warmer than the air so none of us wanted to get out....

Oct 14, 2015 - Emu Park - Yeppoon

WEDNESDAY 14th October Walked early today on the beach so that we could beat the hot part of the day, and beat the strong breezes that seem to come each afternoon. Do you call 9:00am early? RnH headed off before us as they thought they would walk before breakfast, but Jan and I had breakfast first before heading off, so we were well fortified to walk to the end of the beach - about 3km so about 6km round trip. RonG did a bit of washing of the caravan and RonP washed the Prado interspersed with a morning cuppa, and then we headed off to...

Oct 13, 2015 - Emu Park - and feeling very comfortable

TUESDAY 13th October These quiet days are a good tonic, we slept well and didn't wake until 7:45. RonG did wake at 5:40 but was too late for a nice sunrise, so took the photo and went back to bed. The girls did some craft under a tree during the morning and the lads pottered around. Lunch had been semi-planned yesterday when we saw an advert for Senior Lunch $10 served at the hotel. That sounded like a good deal so we ambled up about 12:30 along with quite a few other grey nomads who were also keen for a good deal. By 2:00 we were well...

Oct 12, 2015 - Emu Park

MONDAY 12th October Today was really a "no event" day. No planned outings. No major attractions. No major commitments. We were taking it easy this morning when we got a call from friend Linda who lives in Yeppoon, to let us know she had her Mum and Dad (Ailsa and Ray) with her and they had driven down to Emu Park to look at Anzac Court - the war memorial we spoke of a couple of days ago. It was nice to catch up with them. Ray and Ailsa head back home on Thursday. In the afternoon RonG washed most of the van and RonP washed the Prado. Such...

Oct 9, 2015 - Emu Park - into Rocky

FRIDAY - 9th October RonG set his alarm for this morning but RonP didn't - surprise, surprise. RonG was up at 1:00am to watch the Socceroos match against Jordan in the 2016 World Cup qualifiers. Great match even though it was an undesired score - 2-0 win for Jordan. RonP was too tired - amazing, cos he's the one who is the soccer-fanatic. You just can't tell, can you!!!! We've woken to another v. windy day again, so we'll spend most of it in the car or a shopping centre. After we all did the washing and hung it on anchored down clothes...

Oct 8, 2015 - Emu Park

THURSDAY 8th October We have had high winds throughout last night, together with a few showers. The news indicates that these winds extend right down the coast and it is certainly easier to cope with wind when it is not whipping up huge dust eddies. After a heavy morning shower Ron got out and wiped down the car. It now looks nice and clean now. RonP didn't want to follow my example - their car is a lighter colour and doesn't show the dust as much. Hazel says he's making excuses. We all headed off after a morning cuppa to see the Singing...

Oct 7, 2015 - Emu Park

WEDNESDAY 7th October Our sleep was interrupted at 4:30am when we heard a quick 'rumble' roll through. Well actually it was super-quick. Jan thought a car had pulled up beside us, Hazel thought someone had wheeled a porta-potti past, RonP was so sound asleep he didn't register what it was till it had repeated 3 times, but the noise disturbed him. RonG dived out of bed, mumbling about the automatic sprinklers and ducked outside to rescue the chairs. Well! The grass has to be watered somehow to keep it green. Back to sleep for the Rons, not...

Jul 8, 2012 - Exploring the coast

We went to a Shell Show at the local show grounds. It makes my little shell collection look pretty sad. Then we had lunch at "Mackers" for the first time. I had a Bejing Chicken sandwich - very good. Charlie opted for a boring Big Mac, Next time we will try the Sydney Stack which has beetroot & pineapple (the Aussies really like beet & put it on everything). We took a little trip south along the coast stopping at several of the beaches. In Emu Park there is a monument to Captain Cook called The Singing Ship. The wind plays musical notes on...
