Sep 10, 2006 - Great Barrier Reef 10th to 12th September DIVING

M/V Nimrod- Great Barrier Reef Pixie Pinnacle We were woken up at 6.30am ready for our first dive at 7am. I had my usual explosion of what I assumed was anxiety induced diarrhoea having not dived for a couple of months. I couldn't eat any breakfast as I was feeling too sick so had a cup of tea and proceeded to gear up. Tim had a hearty breakfast of cereal and toast. Once in the water I felt a little better. Van rolling to Oz

Aug 11, 2006 - Great Barrier Reef

Spent 4 absolutely amazing days aboard boat diving in the Great Barrier Reef. As we were staying on the boat we could explore the better further out reef as opposed to the one close to Cairns which is not quite as good. Ended up doing 10 dives over 3 days including a couple night dives which were interesting! After missing the sharks and turtles in Thailand I was hoping I would see some this time, but alas I didn't see any sharks although other people on the trip did - one day! Mar 12, 2006 - Finding Nemo....and riding the waves - the journey starts.

As I mentioned, it took a while for me to decide on which diving trip to do - the weather in Cairns was horrendous so I thought that just maybe going further up north I could out-run (swim) the torrential rains pounding the town. I finally settled on the "Nimrod" for a 3 day trip on the northern part of the reef......it was most certainly not my ride out of the rain but became my base for the weathering of the perfect storm..... Kim's Sabbatical

Jan 21, 2005 - Back from Taka - GBR is GREAT

We got back today from the Great Barrier Reef. Taka Dive is great http://www.taka.com.au/ they are friendly and professional and super divers. We did 3 dives a day and 1 nigh dive the first two days. To day we did a dive at 6:30 before breakfast and another after. Got back to Cairns at 3:30 today. The cook Joe made special meals for Nan due to her allergies and was perfect.
