Oct 20, 2016 - Roma to Capella...on the home straight

Pretty drive through the mountains on our way to Capella. First stop as morning tea and coffee at Injune before travelling on to Rolleston for lunch. Through the pretty drive around Springsure before fueling up at Emerald and heading to Matt and Sue's at Capella for the night. Pizza for tea as we caught up with them.

Sep 13, 2016 - Capella

The Capella Pioneer Village contains the original Peak Downs homestead which I thought was worth a photo but when I got there I found that the village wasn’t open today. While I was taking a photo of the house through the fence a young bloke rode up on his bicycle & we started chatting. It turned out that he was one of the volunteers coming to do some work & invited me to come in & have a look around. He opened up 5 of the buildings for me & I had a wonderful couple of hours looking around the beautiful old homestead which is crammed with...

Sep 12, 2016 - Charters Towers to Capella

Woke up early because Alexander was being silly running up & down the caravan & obviously my bed was part of the track. Oct 2, 2015 - Emerald - Gemfields and Capella

FRIDAY 2nd October We've decided to stay in Emerald for an extra 2 days. Provided RonP gets his new wheel this afternoon we can leave Emerald on the Public Holiday and head for Blackwater. So after morning tea we set out to find out what is at Anakie, Sapphire and Rubyvale, all to the west of Emerald. Incidentally there are no rubies at Rubyvale and no emeralds at Emerald. Anakie was a tiny town which showed little signs of habitation, Sapphire was a little larger but still did not entice us to stop. At Rubyvale we looked in at the...

Dec 12, 2012 - Visiting family out west

Left fairly early this morning to head to Kerry's sisters place in Capella. More roadworks this way too! It is always a nice drive out through the Central Highlands area of Qld. We stopped for a driver change at Duaringa and Joy's husband who had just finished his stint as a train driver at Bluff pulled up beside us so we had a good chat here before driving on to Emerald where we pulled up at the large new shopping centre to see if we could pick up some stuff for next year - we could. It has been quite a few years since we had visited...
