Nov 28, 2007 - Reflections

Climbing up the mountain was an inspiring experience. The bike is much better now. I have sent some 4kg gear back to Adam and the bike is more ballanced now. I lean forward into the turn, relaxed my shoulders give the throttle a good squeeze and the Tenre pulls me out of the turn. No more whoble in the front fork. Here comes a lefty lean into the turn relax my shoulders, very soft on the stearing, give a good squeeze to the throttle and off I swing out of the turn. A ritual of ballance. I feel so in tune with what's moving me forward and...

Boaz&Bike Around Oz

Feb 17, 2007 - Canberra

Me & Noel did a day trip here- it's a Ghost town! Weirdest city ever- made in the middle of nowhere just to be the capital as sydney & melbourne both didnt want the other to be the capital- a very fake city, miticuously planned & designed, with no1 in it's full of government buildings so every1 who works there escapes at the weekend- all we saw were tourists at the monuments etc. Noone actually walked anywhere & we discovered why as we trapesed thru the blistering heat with no breeze up to the war memorial! The war memorial was pretty cool,...

Mar 3, 2006 - On to the next stop

I didn't get to Botany Bay, the part that I wanted was difficult to get to using public transport so I went for a walk in the only remaining mangrove swamp in the area..very interesting, spiders with webs the size of dinner plates. Spent this morning on a bus to the Capital City of Canberra, arriving at about 1230pm. Got great lodgings and walked back into the City and had a tour of the Houses of Parliament...free!! Walked by the lake where they have a tower called the National Carillion which plays out music all day, but like...

Pemel's Adventures

Apr 19, 2005 - Canberra

So here I am again, back on the road!! To help kill the boredom of waiting around before flying to New Zealand I went on a little road trip with to guys from the hostel, John and Lucy. We left Sydney on early Sunday morning and in true backpacker style nearly missed the bus after having to drag a comatose, very hung-over and grey looking John out of bed!!! 4 hours later we were in the nations capital and raring to go. Checked ourselves into a very dodgy but cheap hotel and set off on a whirlwind tour of Canberra!! Our first stop Parliament...

Mar 28, 2005 - Linda's Farm Just North of Canberra, Australia

March 24 - March 28 We went to Canberra to stay with Landon's friend Linda, who he met while she was an exchange student in Edmonton. We had a great weekend, one of the highlights of the trip so far. We did some of the touristy things such as going to Parliment House (Canberra is Australia's capital), Mount Ainsley, Gold Creek (neat shopping area) and a local winery, Poachers Pantry. We stayed out on the farm for the first three nights and the last night we stayed at Carley (Landon's second best friend in Australia) and Graham's (friends of...

Nov 12, 2004 - Spaced out cities

Up & off to Canberra this am, after a quick detour down some extremely rough (in a normal car anyway) roads to a scenic lookout over the river valley that houses the Glow Worm Glen - and which incidentally made me realise just how far down we'd trekked, something you just don't seem to realise in the dark. On the way down drove along the side of an absolutely enormous plain, going on for mile after mile after mile, and stretching off to the hills nestling on the horizon. This turned out to be Lake George, which has held water 5 or 6 times -...
