Sunday 29th October - Monday 30th October 2006 Sawtell - South West Rocks (110km) Fortunately the gale force wind that belted us from all directions on Saturday night, died by Sunday morning. Accordingly, we took things slowly while eating breakfast, packing up and driving to South West Rocks. South West Rocks is a small coastal town between Coffs Harbour and Port Macquarie of about 6,000 permanent residents. Our reason for committing time to such a town is for the scuba diving. Van rolling to Oz

Sep 3, 2006 - Kempsey

Spent 6 days camping along the east coast between Byron Bay and Sydney trying to learn how to surf. Not as easy as it looks, I think I will stick to skiing although I had a great time. Spent more time being battered by the waves and thrown from the board than staying on the board but it was good fun. Also stayed at some pretty amazing campsites just off the beach so saw some brilliant sun rises at 6:00 in the morning just before we went out surfing. (Using surfing in the loosest possible way!) Nov 10, 2004 - Port Macquarie

My next destination was Port Macquarie. This is a small coastal resort in Northern New South Wales which apparently has Australia's best climate, in terms of not too hot summers and not too cold winters. It is also home to my cousin Ann and her family, and this was the main reason for my visit.
