Jul 8, 2011 - Thredbo

Einfach toll!!!

Mar 26, 2010 - Kosciuszko, pt. 1 (March 11 & 12)

March 11-14 Marianne: After Eden, we only had 4 days left before we had to travel to Canberra. Having seen the coast, we decided to head to the Snowy Mountains, home to the Australian continent's highest peak, Mt. Kosciuszko (called "Kozzie" for short). We wanted to see it in warm weather, before it actually was snowy there. It was hard to get info on this region, as all the guidebooks only mentioned the wonderful winter sports opportunities there. This being summer, there were very few places to stay that were open. We finally found a...

Nov 4, 2008 - SNOW!

JOSH: Today I saw snow. If I had to say 1 word I would say "BRILLIANT!" I LOVE IT! We got to the snow on the Kosciuszko Express (chair lift). On the chair lift Mum freaked out. On the top of the mountain I could see a good view. Well, not that much because it was foggy. It was really COLD. I don't know what it smelt like because I had a blocked nose. It was (for me) easy to walk on. Noone else could walk on it. I had a race with Mum. I won...of course. Dad made a snowman. It had Dad's hanky for an Indian. Dad's hanky is buried in the snow...

Apr 7, 2008 - 7th & 8th April, Thredbo

Monday 7th April...woke early (as usual)...very quiet spot at Pigs Point, virtually no traffic noise, no creatures in the night and no wind. Terri was up continuing her video...stand by for the movie...and I got me toast n coffee. About 1 hour and 12 minutes from getting up we were on the road. Getting good at this. Drove up to the Wodonga/Corryong road and headed for Corryong....still quite hilly, but a bit more straight flat road. Arrived Corryong and went to the visitors centre, the plan being to book into a B & B or resort accomodation...

Nov 20, 2005 - NSW: Thredbo ... Hey Dubes, where's my liver?

Thredbo in spring is really quite beautiful and obviously very different from the crazy winter months. It's still quite chilly, but there's a very laidback feel to the place, and the countryside is all alpine summery. We drive up from the Murray via Mulwala along the Alpine Way through Khancoban - the scenery is amazing, but the road is windy, steep and decidedly treacherous in a lot of places. Despite the beauty of the drive, I'm pretty relieved when we get to Thredbo mid-afternoon. We stop at Tom Groggan's and find it alive with roos -...

Pemel's Adventures

Oct 13, 2005 - Thredbo (28/08/05)

Day trip #2 from Canberra. This had to made on the Greyhound and was made more testy because of another issue transport. I had to be at the station at 03:40hrs. There is no public transport at that time. The Hostel was 5km from town so I had a nice walk to get the day started. It was freezing too ~ literally but at least the cold air kept me awake. Thredbo is where you go to in Australia if you want to go skiing or boarding. The Snowy Mountains have the best slopes so both are very popular in Winter. This was why there was no accommodation...
