Jun 6, 2017 - Temora via Coolamon

Stopped off in Coolamon to hopefully purchase some items from the antique shop that we spotted on our trip to the cheese factory on our earlier visit.Fortunately they were still available.(To fragile to carry on our extended trip) A couple of leisurely days spent with our good friends Bob and Elaine, parked in their back yard caravan park. Sunday morning lounging in the sunshine, we were treated to a fly over of the RAAF balloons. (Bob reckons he organised it, being an ex raffie chap)

May 9, 2017 - 9th May, 2017. Temora

9/5/2017. Temora A lovely relaxed day after a slightly warmer night - only slightly! I was up early to do a load of washing - there's only one machine here, and at $3 a load - bargain! We had breakfast and went and did some grocery shopping, then to the Information Centre. A stroll down the main street of Temora where we saw a statue of Paleface Adios, a horse who won many harness races and came from nearby Narrandera, a stop at Vinnies - we're both in need of some reading matter - then to the RSL for a lovely steak lunch. We went back to...

May 8, 2017 - 8th May, 2017 Temora

8/5/2017. Molong to Temora Oh, what a cold night! It was 2.5 degrees inside the van at 7am, with a crackly white carpet outside, and the washing hanging outside was frozen stiff. But the sun was shining, so that bodes well for the day. I put the electric blanket back on high, and turned on the little heater we bought in Armidale, and we stayed in bed until 8.30am. Alas, we had to get up eventually, and were on the road just before 10am. I just saw on tv that Orange which is about 30km south of Molong, was -4.5 degrees last night - so who...

Apr 25, 2017 - Around Temora & ANZAC Day

A guided pub tour of Temora highlighted the history of the town with it's variety of architecture. Starting at the Terminus which was so named as it was the end of the line at the time. Only six pubs remain from twenty odd during the gold rush days. In the early 1880s Temora was the scene of a massive gold rush with some 20,000 miners and hopefuls descending on the field. Numerous large gold nuggets were unearthed over a period of several years. An excellent Dawn Service was held at the Cenotaph in Callaghan Park at 6am followed by...

Sep 21, 2016 - Temora - Ariah Park ????

Wednesday 21st Sept still in Temora - Ariah Park?? Today it has started with rain, which just continues what we had all night - rain, rain and more rain. The ground in this park is at saturation point. No more vans are allowed in, we are the only two. Any one coming onto this area now would be crazy including us. But where would we go - so we just stay and make the most of it. Quiet morning sitting around waiting for the rain to ease which it did late morning. Quiet that is until Ron 'n Jan decided late morning to move the van up to the...

Sep 21, 2016 - More Rain

Wednesday 21st More Rain A slow start as the 4 of us sat in the van drinking coffee as the rain continued. We decided to go for a drive to Ariah Park which is a little village about 20 km west of here. They say this village is known for its ' Wowsers, Bowsers and Peppercorn Trees' but alas we were not to find out for ourselves as the road was cut in several places. We did attempt to get there but it is amazing how much water is lying around and it is right over the road, so the smartest thing to do was a U turn and head back to the van....

Sep 19, 2016 - Temora - in town adding to the economy

Monday 19th Sept - Temora - look around town Today was our original expected day for departure but we’ve decided to extend our stay another two days (five days total) and hopefully our campground will dry out. Hopefully less squish into the plastic scuffs, and less of a feeling of walking on a large sponge - maybe even we will lose the sight of brown water coming to the service outside the van door. We’re going to drive into town for a look around but Ron n Hazel don’t think there area is going to dry out so Ron has shifted their van 20m to...

Sep 19, 2016 - Still Temora

Monday 19th Still Temora The rain has left us for now but it is still very cloudy. What a night we had with wind gusts reaching huge velocity sending our awning into all sorts of configurations and movements making so much noise it was hard to sleep, not sure how many times I almost got up to pull the awing in but stayed in my warm and dry bed !!!! To my surprise the awning was still intact at sunrise. With so much rain yesterday the ground under our awning is pure mud so we decided to move our van up the slop to higher ground , with all...

Sep 18, 2016 - Wet Sunday in Temora

Sunday 18th in Wet Temora We were blessed with the sunny weather yesterday but today we woke to rain, rain and more rain. Although we are on a very grassy camping area they have had so much rain here that the mud is seeping up through the grass as well as through the holes in the mat outside our door which we naively thought would provide a clean area before entering the van!! We just roll our trousers up to walk anywhere and make the most of it. As they say CAMPING is where people spend a lot of money to live like the homeless. There was...

Sunday 18th Sept - at Temora - Combined Churches service We had planned to go to a church service this morning so yesterday we found out the time of the Pressie service. So off we go in beautiful sunshine to find Lake Centenary so we will be prepared for where to go this morning. But there was a notice on the entrance to the park to say that due to the weather the service...
