Mar 8, 2017 - March 8 – Brisbane, Australia

March 8 – Brisbane, Australia We arrived an hour late to Brisbane. The late start because of the wind and the rough seas all the way here took their toll on the arrival time. Still we were in port until 7 p.m. so it wasn’t a big deal. We had breakfast this morning with a couple from Hawaii in winter and Delaware In summer. Brisbane is the capital of Queensland and its most populous city. It is the 3d most populous city in Australia. Its population is 2.3 million while the greater metropolitan area is more than 3 million. It located 9 miles...

Mar 7, 2017 - March 6-7, 2017 – Sydney, Australia and Tasman Sea

March 6-7, 2017 – Sydney, Australia and Tasman Sea March 6 - Well, we didn’t manage to get anything done this morning. We slept in. We had a leisurely, huge breakfast at the hotel. I ordered scrambled eggs and bacon. I was expecting 2 or 3 slices of bacon but there must have been 8-10 slices. The homemade wheat toast was great as well. After breakfast, we went back to the room, got our hand carried luggage and went down and checked out. We caught the Oceania bus to the port and were there by noon. Four (4) hours later we were finally...

Mar 5, 2017 - March 3-5, 2017 – Stillwater, Oklahoma to Sydney, Australia

March 3-5, 2017 – Stillwater, Oklahoma to Sydney, Australia March 3 – I was up at 4:45 a.m. and was on the way to the airport at 5:15. I was going to drive my car and leave it at the airport for Chris, Patsy’s son, to pick up later, but Patsy decided to drive me instead. I was the 1st one to check in for the 6:57 a.m. flight. I couldn’t check my luggage through to Sydney because the Stillwater to Dallas flight had been booked as a separate ticket. That was okay though as I only had one suitcase to check. It was a full flight to Dallas on a...

Mar 4, 2017 - Opera House tour + Dan

Woke up to pouring Rain! We had a tour booked for inside the Opera house, so borrowed some brollies from the hotel and set off down there. 12 on the tour, which is good, as its normally 30+. It has 6 different auditoriums. We went to the Drama theatre, the studio, the Joan Sunderland theatre, and the main concert hall. The drama theatre sits about 600, and has seats which are not only very comfortable, but can absorb sound, so that when they rehearse, the sound us the same as if the seats are occupied! The Studio used to be a recording...

Mar 3, 2017 - Taronga Zoo

Not quite such an early start today. We had to catch a ferry to the zoo where we were having a private tour. the zoo is split into 8 geographical regions, but our tour was specifically for the Australian region. Out guide was called Leon. He is aborigine , and is quite famous around here. He has been in a few Australian films, and was invited by the Queen to play the didgeridoo at her diamond jubilee concert. We have him on dvd! He was an excellent guide, explaining all about his people, the floral and fauna, and the wildlife. We taken...

Mar 2, 2017 - Blue Mountains

We were picked up at 7.15 this morning for our trip to the Blue Mountains. First stop was a town called Leura, which had cherry blossom trees planted down the road. There were a couple of cockatoos roaming around the street (could not help thinking about the panic if Mari had been there𯘊) We then moved on to Scenic World. This park has a few attractions. 1. Scenic skyway 2. Scenic railway 3. Scenic walkway 4. Cable car We started on the skyway which took as across the gorgeous above the Katoomba Falls. Unfortunately the mistake rolled...

Mar 1, 2017 - Arrived in Sydney

We woke up to a view of the Opera House as we went alongside. We had to be off the ship by 9am, so had an early breakfast and then sat in the lounge until it was time to go ashore. We disembarked and picked up our luggage before going through customs. We then got a taxi to our hotel, which was not far away. Our room at The Four Seasons was not ready, so we left our luggage in storage and went for a wander. We went into Mcdonald fire coffee, and then I got a text saying our room was ready, so we returned to the hotel and got our keys. Our...

Feb 25, 2017 - Sydney

New Zealand. Auckland. 15th February 20deg . We go ashore and wander the city streets of Auckland. It is very hilly and Cheryl says it reminds her of San Francisco without the trams. Near to the cruise terminal the shops are very upmarket and touristy but as we move on it becomes more normal city shops. We ride a bus around and discover a very cosmopolitan population. Everyone seems to get on fine. 20 percent of the population of New Zealand is from China and 15 percent is Maori. Lots or people are mixed race so you can imagine the...

Feb 13, 2017 - Flight 3

Our last day in Singapore. We checked out reasonably early and put the bags in storage, before heading out into town. We headed down to St Andrews Cathedral - not very big, but interesting. Walked along the river stopping for a drink in a cafe whose canopy was sponsored by standard Chartered! The heavens opened whilst we were there, so we stayed for a little while 𯘊 There were quite a lot of interesting sculptures along the river. We then got what slightly lost before finally heading back towards our hotel. Stopped a cafe for a last...

Feb 10, 2017 - What time is it?

What a difference a day makes. One of the Assy's asked if we were going to Brecky? I said yes assuming he meant breakfast. We were at sea yesterday so I took a watercolor painting class which resulted in a postcard of sailboats. Met some lovely ladies from Australia, New Zealand, Africa, Porta Rico, Canida, and Indonesia. Everyone spoke English or a version of it. Went to the library to read while husband napped. Listened to an interesting debate about Australia's Prime Minister. Things are the same everywhere just the names have...

Feb 9, 2017 - Get us to the boat on time.

After checking out of our room we had an hour to wait for the bus. Airline buses arrived with Sing-a-pore flight attendants and pilots. All of the women were the same height and weight dark hair, full make up. Then came China air, the flight attendants were taller had white pants and long turquoise tunics. My favorite was the ones from the Dubia. I took a picture with them and I will try to load it. We paid at the airport to get picked up today at noon from the notorious Ready to Go bus service. 12:30 no bus, Called to see if they were...
