Aug 19, 2017 - Bonney Hills

Saturday 19 August 2017 A surprisingly quiet night after we were expecting to experience high winds. So quiet that we slept in until 7.50am. Think we are achieving that relaxing feeling! The wind has been consistent during the day with gusty bursts from time to time. The difference today has been the chill factor with the wind, so no beach walks today. We headed back into Port Macquarie in the morning to sort a couple of things, and then headed south towards Laurieton. We had been told it was a pretty drive, and we were not disappointed. A...

Friday 18 August 2017 A few housekeeping jobs to start the day and then we set off towards Port Macquarie. First stop was at Lighthouse Beach after driving along the coast road past Lake Cathie. Lake Innes Nature Reserve extends along the coastline from Lake Cathie to the outskirts of Port Macquarie, making it a very pretty drive. Plenty of bush walking tracks are in this stretch too. Watched more whales having a "whale of a time" out to sea from Lighthouse Beach before driving up to Tacking Point and the Tacking Point lighthouse built in...

Aug 17, 2017 - Brooms Head to Bonney Hills (Sth of Port Macquarie)

Thursday 17 August 2017 Pack up time and goodbye to Brooms Head. A very enjoyable three night stay, great warm weather, lovely beach walks and getting used to relaxing for a bit. The road works happening in this part of the country are amazing. The finished sections are fantastic, and what a great highway it will be when all has been completed. Considering all the work going on, there have been no major hold ups to our travels. Trying to find a rest area north of Coffs Harbour is not possible at present, so decided on a detour into...

Oct 7, 2016 - We are home

We made it home!! And even though we had a fabulous holiday, and loved every minute of it, we are pleased to be home. The plane from Dubai arrived just after 6am and luckily for us, there were no other planes arriving at that time. We passed through passports quickly, got our suitcases off the carousel, made it through customs and then headed to the transit lounge to transfer to the domestic terminal. We dropped off our suitcases, caught the bus and found our gate to catch our last flight for this trip. We slept most of the flight ... well,...

Mar 19, 2015 - Port Macquarie

Hello all, today I went out with the Hastings Hi! Hatters for lunch at Shelly Beach. Not knowing where it was I put it into the GPS thingy and it tried to put me onto the A1 to Sydney where there is a Shelley Beach at Manly. Finally found the right place and we had a great lunch, everyone bringing a plate and the Queen brought some punch. The picnic area was beautiful, with covered tables, barbeques, toilet block and parking for some 80 cars. It was a beautiful day and we were visited by two monitor lizards and four bush turkeys. I had...

Hello everyone Well the result of the ultrasound on my foot is "an ill-defined partial-thickness articular surface 2nd plantar plate 3-4mm tear". This causes the under-foot pain and partial numbness of some of the toes. The new shoes should prevent it getting worse and may help healing to some extent. Don't know how it happened but she said that the bad shoes I have been wearing probably contributed. I went to BigW and bought some really spongy scuffs for wearing inside as I am pretty sure that the tiled floors in this house are...

Hello all, Had the sonographs done of my left foot on Friday and go back to the Podiatrist on Wednesday. I am still reeling from the price ($170) I had to pay for new shoes (see photo). According to the podiatrist we should not wear shoes that can bend in the front or the back. Imagine that if this was taught at school (get a podiatrist to come in and give a talk) the government would save billions as people would not have foot problems caused by bad shoes leading to days off work, claims on Medicare, etc. The podiatrist also said that I...

Hello all, Well saw the podiatrist today and have to have ultrasound on my foot to see what's going on. I took all my shoes with me but none of them are ok so she sent me off to the Atheletes' Foot to get a proper pair. After senior's discount they cost $170. Never paid more than $50 for a pair of shoes IN MY WHOLE LIFE! They had better last a long time. Have the ultrasound on Friday afternoon. I asked her what would happen if I did nothing and she said I would end up not being able to walk on the foot. So, another expensive exercise in...

Hello all, the problem with the van turned out to be a button on the solar controller that had been pressed by something moving around in the cupboard in which it is installed. So the money I received from Ozhitch for the broken hitch went straight to the auto electrician, who was about to take the side off the van but rang a Paramount expert first who suggested the solar controller. So it could have been a bloody sight worse I suppose. You don't know what you don't know. Today I put the caravan into storage as I just don't think it is safe...

Hello all, Arrived at Kathinka's place at about 10:30. We then went for a drive, going to the coastal walk for some spectacular views then to the Sea Acres Nature Reserve for some lunch and a cup of tea. After that we drove around, visiting the CBD and the river. I will be taking the van back to the auto electrician at 7:00 in the morning, hopefully he will find the fault. That's all the news for now. Love to all x0x0x0x0x0x0

Feb 25, 2015 - Port Macquarie

Hello all, I left the caravan park in Coffs Harbour at about 8.30 this morning and went to the caravan repair place to get the ensuite hatch cover replaced and at the same time I got them to put a rope track across the back of the van so that I can slide in a cover for the generator when it's raining, otherwise, can't use the genny in the rain. That took only an hour or so, so I then took off in the direction of Port Macquare and decided to stay overnight at a place called Kundabung which is a little place about 26k north of Port Macquarie....

Apr 3, 2014 - Port Macquarie

April 1st Packed the van up to head up to Armidale, this is a bit out of our way as we are heading towards port Macquarie on the coast. We needed to go to Armidale as this is the closest Australian Electrol Commission office and we need to vote before Saturday. While we were in Armidale we had lunch at a pub called The Saint Kilda, they were offering $7 lunch's, so that was good enough for us. I had fish & chips and Steph had a schnitzel. Both were OK for the cost. We then headed of on a short cut towards Port Macquarie, the road was a bit...
