I left Sydney on Sunday afternoon, for a peacefull 3 days in the Blue Mountains. Marie drove me to her mum Avril's place in Wentworth Falls. For those of you who don't know, My mum and Avril were the best of friends when Marie and I were babies, so we always make the effort to see each others for a catch up when abroad. I havent't seen Marie for about 12 years, since she was travelling in Europe...! Now Marie has her own little baby, Sienna, who is 8 mths old and a total sweetheart. Jan 28, 2006 - The Blue Mountains

Whilst we were in Sydney we decided that we should pay a visit to the Blue Mountains and the Three Sisters which are supposed to be about an hour away from Sydney by train - although for some reason it took us a lot longer than that to actually get there. The Blue Mountains are so named because they are densely populated by Eucalyptus trees. The atmosphere is filled with finely dispersed droplets of oil from the tree's leaves, which, in combination with dust particles and water vapour, scatter short-wave length rays of light which are...

Mar 3, 2005 - Hiking in the Blue Mountains

Today we were up early--though thankfully not at 5:00 am like yesterday--and headed to the Blue Mountians on the city train. We hopped on the Metro right across the street from the hotel and 2.5 hours later we were in Katoomba. After a little game of 'what the heck does this map say?' (we have proven ourselves to be a bit retarded in this area), we managed to actually get onto the Blue Mountains trails and do some hiking. We hiked from Katoomba to the next town called Leura.
