Hi everyone, Baby Girl is back home now. She was not happy, Jan, and has been meowing constantly since I picked her up and wanted lots of cuddles. Now she is quietly lying beside me on the couch. The vet said she hadn't thrown up and hadn't eaten since she went in. I offered her food when we got home but she wasn't interested, too hyped up I think. Anyway, $500 later the verdict is that in spite of the daily laxatives she gets it's not quite enough to clear her bowel regularly, and he thinks that is just her age. He gave her two enemas and...

Hello everyone, Baby Girl is spending the night at the vet clinic. I haven't heard from the vet since I left Baby Girl there this morning but I guess they would have called me if they found anything nasty. The owners of this property are back now so I will probably be leaving tomorrow but will probably wait until I hear from the vet. The owners have said I can stay as long as I like but I am parked about 20 feet from their front door and I think it would get on their nerves before long. We have had lots of rain again yesterday and today,...

Hello all, Not much to report today. Firstly I spent a couple of hours making Grumichama Jam which turned out more like Grumichama Coulis, but you can't win them all. It will be great in ice cream! Did any of you watch "Crash", the movie on SBS One last night? If you didn't, boy did you miss a good movie. It was so good I logged on to SBS On Demand this morning and watched it again. I recommend you watch it, fantastic. Baby Girl has not improved and in fact is worse in that she is not eating and throws up any water she drinks. I called the...

Hi all, not much to report today. Yesterday I went into the orchard to pick up some of those blue fruit you saw some days ago in the blog. I had experimented taking the flesh off by putting in one of those cheese graters that you operate by turning a handle and it worked quite well but getting rid of the the bits left in the convulutions (see the photo). They are quite attractive seeds and I will use them in my jewellery making. Anyway I went into the orchard and starting picking them up when I saw hundreds of seeds that have been lying...

Hello all, Not much to report. I have a tyre pressure monitoring system installed on the Patrol and the van. There is a device that you attach to the valve stem in place of the cap. It has a chip that monitors the pressure and temperature of the tyre and transmits the info to a receiver on the dashboard. Hopefully it will tell me I have a tyre problem before a tyre is destroyed. Anyway the batteries have to be replaced every so often, about every two years, and I have to do this with one of them at the moment. so you screw off the cap and...

Happy New Year everyone! Hope things went well last night with no hangovers. Denis and Carole visited yesterday and stayed overnight. They didn't have their van, just the car, and they carry roll-up mattresses with them "just in case". We had prawns and salad for lunch then got stuck into the champagne in a big way, won't say how many bottles we got through but it was a few! Before the fireworks we got onto Youtube and Denis pointed me to this clip called "Cows With Guns". If you haven't seen it,you have just go to view it, it's absolutely...

Hello everyone, I hope your Christmas was a good one. I saw on the news the other day that in a town in the USA the Muslims demanded that their holy days should be school holidays as well as the Christian holy days. The town authorities responded by renaming the Christmas break as "winter break" and the Easter break as "spring break" - good on them! I don't usually comment on all the Muslim stuff, but the USA is a Christian country and if you don't like how they do things, there is a boat leaving every day. My Christmas was a quiet one, of...

Hello everyone, I hope the xmas preparations are going swimmingly! Turkeys and hams at the ready. I was going to have roast chicken tomorrow as I was only getting 1 egg a day, but I performed a little pantomime for the chooks using an axe and a baking dish as props, and voila! 3 eggs today! Chooks aren't so dumb! Bet you're dying to know what today's disaster is!! Well, I went into Alstonville this morning for some last minute shopping, parked in the car park did the shopping, drove a couple of streets away to visit the op shop to get some...

Hello everyone, not much to report today. This week's disaster was the fridge door falling off. The bolt had worked its way out of the hinge hole, I think I was lucky that the bottom hinge didn't break off. anyway I managed to put it all back together. Will have to keep my eye on that. I went to the Ballina markets this morning, execllent! I managed to get a Sodastream complete with two bottles and fully-chargesd gas cylinder all for $10! No longer do I have to make my own tonic water and they have bitter-lemon-type syrup that I can use in...

Hello all, Lots of photos and videos today! I am looking after a house on a cattle property, just a small one, with a dog, cat, rabbit and fish in a tank. The owners left this afternoon at 2pm so now I have the whole place to myself. The dog is a female 6-month-old kelpie/border collie cross who has some very annoying habits that I am determined to fix while I am here. I really don't understand why people put up with bad habits, complain about it, but don't DO anything about it. I asked the owners if they would like me to give her some...

Hi Guys! Just a small entry today. Arrived at Meerschaum Vale this morning and am parked in the front yard (for want of a better word) at the place where I will be house sitting until the 5th January. Haven't had a chance today to take photos or videos but will tomorrow and will make bigger entry on the blog. It was VERY HOT today, 43 Degrees outside, 38 in the van. Baby Girl was not happy but did not get distressed so I did not have to give her a dunking which would have stressed her more. It is supposed to get only to 34 tomorrow so that...
