Nov 4, 2015 - to Bald Rock Nat then Lismore

Wed Nov 4 to Bald Rock Nat. Park, then Casino to return the car. Bike 30 k to Lismore, ride time 1:38. A very scenic drive to Bald Rock NP. Pete curious about the mounds, ants or termites ??...so he had to investigate with a stick ! Cloudy, v humid, light rain on the 50 min climb to top Bald Rock. Pic-nic on the top, 20 mins to get down..v steep, thankfully we have strong legs now, felt like our patellas were about to pop out of our knees. So many plants looked similar to NZ hebes, Manuka.. a low hum of many butterflies/moths and bees. A...

Nov 25, 2014 - Lismore - last day

Hello all, Well the air con guy turned up, turned on the air con and guess what? yes, it worked. So I gave him $50 and off he went. Half an hour later the error message came up again. So I rang them and they sent him back and the upshot is that it needs a new sensor of some sort but of course you can't just buy one sensor, can you. Oh no, you have to buy a kit that consists of three sensors and a circuit board. The good news is that it costs only $112. So I will have to get someone in Inverell to install it, I can order the parts and have...

Nov 24, 2014 - Lismore

Hi all, I have a little bit of sightseeing while here, not as much as I would like because it has been so incredibly hot (39 today), I didn't want to leave Baby Girl by herself in the van as I have had to give her a dunking most days. so next time I come here I will really see the place properly. I got talking to the guy next door in the little wooden caravan/trailer thingy and he told me all about it. Built it himself over 12 months or so for about $1000 and is still tweaking things. It's a bit like a TARDIS, looks bigger on the inside...

Nov 21, 2014 - Lismore

Hi All Well the fridge is ok so all is well on that front. I won't be filling the freezer again, and there's no need anyway, but you see a bargain on meat or sausages and tend to take advantage of it, don't you, and buy a couple of kilos. Won't be doing that any more. So today the Patrol got a service, I asked the caravan park owner who he could recommend so I took it there today and the guy, who works by himself, was busier than a one-armed fiddler doing four cars at once, two on hoists and two on the ground. He said he had had 15 cars...

Nov 17, 2014 - Lismore

Hello all, Well the sparky came today and installed a new battery charger so now I have plenty of energy to play with. We're not too sure about the fridge, however, and will wait until tomorrow to see if it gets down to temperature. It takes quite a while for these fridges to reach the right temperature so I just have to wait but, of course, I have lost all the food in the freezer. Everything else is in the esky covered with ice. Which means there is plenty of ice for the gin and tonics of which I intend to have a few this evening. The cost...

Nov 16, 2014 - Lismore

Hello all Well the sparkys who were going to come today did not come today. I rang them as arranged but no-one could come, at least the guys who do the caravans and motor homes could not come because they are out of town. So I have to ring again tomorrow and hopefully someone will come out first thing. Meanwhile the solar panels are holding their own but I have to be very careful with energy usage. I am yet to learn, then, whether the generator blew up the battery charger, the battery charger blew up the generator or the battery generator...

Nov 14, 2014 - Mallanganee & Lismore

Hello all, I spent the last two nights at a rest area between Tabulum and Mallanganee. I did take a video of it but unfortunately it is too big to upload here. Yesterday afternoon I started the generator to get the batteries fully charged. It was running for about an hour and a half when I heard a noise, then heard the generator sound really strange so I ran outside, saw some sort of error message on the little screen and turned it off. So this morning I set out for Lismore and arrived here about 9.30 and booked into the Lismore Centra...

Mar 9, 2011 - Lismore

th March. Today we left Grafton heading for Casino, but decided to continue on to Lismore, we booked into a very average caravan park, but as they only have en suite sites and the cost is only $23, it is O.K. for one night, there are mainly permanents and cabins here, and it is very run down, oddly enough the en suite is clean and it’s nice to be able to spread out a bit. Lismore is a good size town, it has some nice parks and the Richmond River runs through it. We took a drive up town and checked out the Tourist Info Centre, but really...

Nov 18, 2007 - Day 2 Byron Bay

Early morning Blue sky the kind of day you would expect to spend in Byron Bay. I am contemplating staying here forever such a magical place. Went up to the old cape today and looked into the sea - must appreciate the space when you look far into the horizon - so much horizon that it makes you look for the spca inside you. I off for lunch now and see how things develop - Moshe might call me this afternoon and perhaps join me for the trip down to Melbourne - thats good news I am not sure I want to do all this thing solo.

Boaz&Bike Around Oz

Nov 28, 2006 - Gold Coast

Well we are now on the Gold Coast and in particular checking out the Worlds. Having spent Monday jumping from train to train and ferries we explored Brisbane city. A city's a city I'd have to say but Brissy does have some pretty cool features. The central mall was a winner with lots of cool cafes and restaurants, as was the South Bank development with it's man made lagoon and boardwalk. We picked up Harvey at the end of the day from his 10,000 km service and prepared for an early start to make our way down here. As it turned out the drive...

Sep 10, 2006 - Driving Up the Coast on the Pacific Highway

Sunday - We rented a Holden Commodore station wagon to drive up the coast of New South Wales. We left at about 10 am it was still really rainy and windy. We took the Pacific Highway north towards Byron Bay, which is just south of Brisbane. We stopped in Newcastle to go to the grocery store and to take a break from driving in the rain. Unfortunately, the weather didn't get any better. We took our time and finally got to Byron Bay at 9:30 pm. The next day (Monday) we crusied around town. It is really cute with lots of surf shops and cafes and...
