Oct 9, 2016 - Irene's Musings & back in Coff's Harbour

I have had a lot of time to reflect and since I suspect that I will be asked what was my favourite part of the trip, I have pondered this. Yes, the landscape has been beautiful and varied along the way. Yes, the wildlife has been of interest. Yes, the seafood has been plentiful and fresh. For me, it has been the people that we have met and observed along the way. Here is a brief summary of my musing. 1. Everyone has been a white Australian. I don't really know what to make of this other than it is often said that Aussies like the sun and...

Jun 29, 2014 - Last night in Bangkok, err try North Haven

Leaving in the morning for TunCurry.... Not much has been happening here for the last few days we drove to PM yesterday to suss out lounge chairs as my second penultimate project is to remove the Van Dinette with considerable skill and care and make up a cover for the wheel arch (so that it looks nice) and replace the dining benches with comfy chairs.... We have found a few that will do the job and can be assembled inside the van. In 20mins I'll know if the slotting router cutter I need will be mine other wise I'll have buy one retail.......

Jun 22, 2014 - Still at North Haven

After washing some essentials this morning we set off for the Laurieton Riverside Markets and when we got there the car park was bear.... No Markets today... So we drove round to Dunbogan for a look see and eventually found a lookout that did not involve a route march and I got a few nice shots.... To fill in some time before our planned luncheon at the Bowling Club we set forth for the Diamond Head camp ground. That too was closed.... I think the road continues on to Harrington but that’s for another day, a visit to Inspirations,...

Jun 19, 2014 - Another day

Today was an exciting day!!! We had to recover from the attack of the native local Kangaroos yesterday, they kept Gracie's sniffer going for hours. I made the decision to get a new knee; my current model has been mucking up and wont calm down so this morning I organised an appointment with the surgeon for the 11th... I shall ask the Surgeon if I can have the old one to keep in a jar of metho.... We want to “do” Europe and the UK and I don’t want it failing under pressure en route; hardly the done thing to have to hobble around the famous...

A very relaxing day today... Carol did the washing while I laid back and relaxed in the Sun. The Free Wi-Fi at our end of the park is not working, the Manager said that all they can do is reset it but either that has not been done or there is a fault in the system. Broadband access here seems flaky to say the least and as night falls it gets worse with everyone trying to use it.... We went out for a $10 lunch at the Sandbar but despite the sign it was just to entice you inside, the $10 lunch today was a vegetarian tart, we repaired to the...

We had a long drive today and got here by lunch.... It took about 3 hours including a 30 min stop near the Taree turnoff for a leg stretch and to phone my Parents who have just had Vital Call installed after much heated resistance but matched with equal tenacity on my part, in the end I won because Mum realised she could fall and Dad would be making lighthouses in his workshop and not realise it for 2 hours, if then. It was interesting to note (as I did to Carol) that this was the first time we had bypassed Taree in the years we have been...
