We left the coast and headed inland to one of the Gondwana UNESCO rainforests. The journey was gorgeous with wide rivers, pretty townships and a winding climb into the hills. Everywhere was lined with purple jacarandas, hibiscus and oleanders. We saw plenty of bird life including the Superb Lyrebird if Flora, Louis, Rory and Erin remember that from Bird Bingo! The walk into the rainforest was interesting and as we left the waterfall a thunderstorm hit leaving us all wet to the very core by the time we had hiked back to the van! The day...

Our Year Out

Jul 24, 2009 - Day 4 – Tamworth to Dorrigo – Tow’n Slow

As we pulled out of the “Paradise* Caravan Park” in Tamworth, I noticed a Tasmanian registered van with the slogan ‘Tow’N Slow’ as a bumper sticker. That probably summed up the day. * Nice Caravan park – yes. Paradise? - No Today we basically covered miles to get closer to the warmth. About 230kms today all up. If you count the drive up from Culburra to start the trip we have covered the first 1000kms. Between 1/30th or 1/40th of the trip already complete. Say it quickly it hurts less.
