May 31, 2008 - Sydney Day 1

We woke up early and packed for our journey to Sydney. We got to the airport earlier than expected but got access to the business lounge since Dad was traveling in style again. The lounge gave us internet access after many days of none. We were able to update the online journal with our text activities. Our flight was delayed a bit but we ran into some Lockheed friends. We arrived in Sydney and travel by taxi to the Mariott Sydney Harbour. The hotel is fabulous and we loved Syndey immediately. Our room wasn't quite ready so we stored our...

May 3, 2008 - Day 1 Botany Bay to Pittwater

Blast off! Left Botany Bay after five dinghey loads of gear at around 11 am. Had great weather, lucky us, considering how poor the weather has been of late. Ten to fifteen knots,SE/SW with very little swell. Made it to Coaster's Retreat at about 5pm, freezing cold! Looking forward to much warmer weather as we head further up the coast. We will be heading off at about 5am tommorow, and heading to Newcastle. Weather forecast much the same as today.

Hello!! Just arrived at the hostel in Brisbane... so thought i should let you all know what Ive been upto! But we did a 2 day tour of the great ocean road which was pretty good, and went to the melbourne museum and st kilda beach etc which was good. Then we went to Sydney for a week and I loved it! Feb 1, 2008 - Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House

Well sad to say today is the last day! We left coffs harbour and travelled to the windemme estates vineyard in the hunter valley, after a bit of a skin full last night wine tasting wasn't exactly what we felt like but heyho me and gem's held our own :-) Then we travelled to sydney for our group photo infront of the bridge and we went our seperate ways. Luckily most people stayed in the same place last night so we met up for drinks and food! Most people are sticking around for a few days so we have a night out planned tonight for bday...

Dec 29, 2007 - G'day Sydney

Up early to get ourselves and the Winnebago ready for the 3 hour trip to Sydney. Pretty unadventurous trip until we get to Sydney and inadvertently cross the Harbour Bridge (going in the wrong direction)! This was due entirely to the GPS lady not paying attention and missing a vital left turn. Dump the van at the hire depot and taxi into our hotel which is brilliantly situated in Darling Harbour. We get upgraded to a family suite!! We then head out for a walk through Darling Harbour which is gettng itself geared up for Hogmany.Dinner in the...

Dec 12, 2007 - Sydney and the Blue Mountains

Saturday night when we got back to our Sydney hostel, the same one we stayed in when we got to Australia, we had signed up for a 8 bed mixed dorm room. Boy was that ever a mistake. I think all the people in that room were living there, staying for an extended period and they all slept all day and partied all night. That was not so bad, but what was bad was how the guys had their clothes thrown all over the room. I never did see any of the guys because we left in the morning before they got up and was not home at night when we went to bed,...

Nov 8, 2007 - Singapore Continued & onto Sydney

In Singapore Wednesday We dropped off first in Orchard Road - the main shopping street. Most of the buildings are huge new high rise developments with air conditioned malls - a real relief after the humid heat outside. Usual shops here with designer clothes etc. The first older building was the Art Museum. On through Little India which seems to be a big recycling area - now I know where all the old computers & white goods go. The streets were full of cling film wrapped vintage electrical equipment. We had booked into a Battlefields Tour...

Nov 2, 2007 - Australia

Hi everyone ~ Where to start - Australia has been amazing - as you can tell, I have not had time to write in the blog - on the go constantly. We arrived in Sydney, spent two nights there and saw the main sights - the Opera House, the famous bridge, and several beaches. The first day there we went on a beach tour with the hostel we were staying at which reminded me so much of the days living in San Diego. It was so great to be back on the beach! The woman at the hostel travel agency was great, she gave us all kinds of information and got us...

Nov 1, 2007 - Day 32 - Natural Beauty, Manmade Ugly

Thursday Nov 1 Today is a somewhat rainy cooler day, just the kind of weather I like! Some sun, some clouds, about 74 degrees. I hauled myself to the gym this morning and had a good upper body workout. Afterwards, I set out on a walk around the coast near downtown. As I walked from my neighborhood, the first thing I came upon was the wharf at the end of my street that you saw in the distance in another photo. It houses an upscale hotel, many fancy restaurants and some condos. After passing the wharf, I came upon a view of Syndey's skyline,...
