Jan 20, 2007 - Thanks and G'day

And so our journey in Australia is over. We head to Bangkok for a few days on our way home. Our thoughts on Oz. Quite simply, it's magic. The land is awesome, the scenery spectacular, the people terrific - friendly, helpful, assured - the food is to die for (how do they keep it such a secret),the booze plentiful. Highlights? Far too many - simply waking every day in a country of so many contrasts, where one day the surf is beating against the shore and the next the cat birds are screaming in the rainforest, where you can stand on the...

Jan 2, 2007 - Australia - Kiama

Unfortunately it was our last day in Sydney and as usual we felt we hadn't stayed long enough! After signing our lives away we collected our Wicked Campervan which had ET spray painted all over it (check out the pictures) and hit the road south. First stop was at Stanwell Park where we had a beautiful view over the seaside town, beach and coastal drive from Bald Hill Headland Reserve. We continued along the coastal drive through Clifton and Scarborough which reminded me a lot of Cape Town with the huge houses overlooking the sea. We drove...

Aug 31, 2006 - And back to Sydney - into real life

Well, have been in Sydney now for about three weeks, and the time has been flying since i have been so busy! All of my days has been consumed by looking for an appartment (a good one with NORMAL people - is that so much to ask???) So because of this i have moved three times already in the past three weeks -whewww.... I have also been on prowl for WORK - my god is it interesting finding work here! Everything goes through recruitment agencies, so it is very round about and takes forever to register with enough agencies that you have work...

Mar 27, 2006 - Retraction

Ok, I'd like to issue a formal retraction, directed firstly at my sibling. As he so correctly stated, I am NOT in Europe. I'd like to respond to that comment in the best way I know how...Yes I'm not there. Not yet, but I'm a helluva lot closer to going than any'o y'all!! He he he. (Please note: gloating only directed towards those people reading that are named Adam, and are my brother) On another note, I've also had comments that my pre-trip lead up doesn't have enough emotion. Well that's just because I am a rock, and show no emotion....

Jan 4, 2006 - Wollongong 040106 (is)

Jun 1, 2005 - Kiama

We board the 9am train to Kiama which is a small town on the coast 2 hours south of Sydney, where Steve's Aunt Pat (Clives sister) lives. Easy enough but hum-drum journeys are not part of our agenda and after 1/2 hour on the train we are turfed off the train due to "a massive power failure on the tracks ahead" [Pat reckoned it may have been code for a suicide on the track]. Anyway, we are at a little place called Waterfall which is the backend of the arse end of nowhere. There is a carpark in sight, a train station and thats it. We have to...

Nov 18, 2004 - Woolongong and beyond

I started my Aus trip in Woolongong at the home of my cousin Clayton and his wife Cin, and I had again arranged to stay with them for the weekend before moving on southward. It was a nice weekend, witha touch of normality making a nice antidote to my recent enforced tourism. Apparently on saturday everyone in Aus cuts their grass, and this was certainly what we did on saturday morning. However the grass in this case was a substantial patch of bush which is part of a property that Clayton & Cin own in Bulli to the north of Wollongong, and...

Dec 16, 2003 - Happy Christmas Everybody

Hope you all have a fantastic Christmas back home. We'll be thinking of you all as we swap the traditional roast dinner for a picnic on the beach. Despite the sun and sand, I'm sure we'll be just a little bit homesick as there'll be no Eastenders, Christmas pudding, Cliff Richard or turkey sandwiches out here. Lots of love, Cara and Paul xxx
