Sep 14, 2014 - Lake Keepit

Sunday 14 September Had a quiet start again, some reading and some craft. After morning tea, we set off again for the soaring club to see if there were any gliders going up for a ride!! We were met by a field full of gliders, and spent an hour and a half just watching. There were all sizes, shapes etc getting ready for a competition day. There were probably around 20 gliders up for the day, or however long they can stay there. We enjoyed watching all the preparation etc, and the procedures that take place as each one gets their turn for a...

Saturday 13 September Another relaxing day. Went for a morning drive to Manilla. Good country road, but they need some rain. Manilla a nice little country town, and a very busy one this weekend with a camp drafting weekend happening. Had nice walk around town, visited the information place. By the window it looked like they had some CWA craft inside. Once inside, the lady very quickly put the chain across the doorway, meaning we had to pay to have a look!! We were able to get some good info for further travels, so all was not lost. Found a...

Sep 12, 2014 - Lake Keepit

Friday 12 September A very enjoyable quiet day at the lake. We booked in for two nights when we arrived yesterday, but soon decided it was worth a longer stay. All ok for us to have four nights, and we were also able to get a key to have a look inside a Campotel. There are eight of these in a semi circle with their own BBQ area. They are quite popular as they sleep 6, and are $48 pn. Obviously cheaper than the self contained units. Tried out the laundry as well, couldn't put the washing off much longer! Went for drive around the lake during...

Sep 11, 2014 - Narrabri to Lake Keepit

Thursday 11 September Left our comfy spot at show grounds around 9.30am. Lovely drive again through Boggabri (bigger than thought it would be), and then on to Gunnedah where we had morning tea in Anzac Park. Visited the info centre for maps and to enquire about staying at Lake Keepit. Told it was a great spot, and we are not disappointed. Very quiet spot on lake, only five vans here and three or four cabins occupied. Obviously it would be a busy place on weekends. The most noise came from the local soaring club with several gliders being...
