Apr 6, 2007 - Good Friday Means Everything's closed...GRRR

Hey Everyone, So Kori and I have been looking for jobs all day yesterday and today...and by all day I mean not really all day. Haha. We usually come to the internet cafe first and check emails, websites, etc. and then we apply online for quite a few jobs. Lots of places would prefer that you email your resume, which is fine with me cuz I HATE handing out resume's. Then we wander around aimlessly not really knowing where we're going and hand out resume's to places with help wanted signs in their windows. Then we come back here and check...

Jan 13, 2007 - Byron Bay

hello you guys we have moved another 5hrs up the coast to the party town of Byron Bay. and wow its hot up here! (sorry guys!) We have had to up our sun factor protection, even though we are already brown coz the sun is so strong, and this is nowt compared to queensland apparently! Can't wait! Byron lives up to its reputation, its small with a beautiful white sandy beach, which is full of surfers and beach godesses (me and James fit right in!) We went to the hostel barbacue last night then out on the town. it was a good night, we even made...

Nov 27, 2006 - Byron Coastal Walk. Australias mosr Eastern point!

After doing Noels Hair we went on the coastal walk right out to the point which is Australia's most Easterly point. It's a bit surreal to stand at that point and look back and know the whole of Oz is in front of you. We had a walk up to Cape Byron light House which also had some great views of the whole of Byron Bay. Impressive! A story I forgot to tell was the one about the first day we were in the sea on Byrons main beach. Most of the surfs guys were on the beach. Mike and I were trying to catch a few waves into the beach and generally...

John's Trip to Oz

Nov 23, 2006 - Byron Bay....Sharks tale

After several weeks of fairly constant movement, we got to Byron Bay and rented a lovely apartment for three days. It was so nice to have a place to call home. On the cards for the couple of days was sun, relaxation and a bit of surfing. The apartment was a 5 minute walk to town and about 15 to the beach. Luckily the weather was great so we had plenty of time to top up the tans. Both Carol and Linda got in surfing, the water was lovely and the swell perfect for learning or improving. We had picked an unfortunate time of year to be on the...

Oct 8, 2006 - Surfers Paradise

The busiest place i've been yet, horrid actually, but grew to appreciate the beginning of the gold coast once i'd been to the top of the Q1 tower. It's kinda how i imagine a tackier Miami to be. Yuck. Went to some awesome gallery - more wonderful pictures of Oz - and chatted to this lovely lady who worked there, turns out she's 35, met her American husband in Sydney 11 years ago, and they've spent the last 10 years travelling and living all over the place. They're now thinking about kids...wow! Dragged myself out of far too many surf...

Jul 13, 2006 - Everybody's going surfing... surfing Byron Bay!!

Woke up to pouring rain and quickly wished we hadn't booked to go surfing this morning!!.. We went and checked at reception but they confirmed it was still on so off we toddled to get changed into our bathers!! Were picked up at 9 and quickly assured that the water would be a lot warmer than the outside temperature - thankfully it was, so after going through the basics on the beach we picked up our board gave it our best Baywatch run into the sea and set about trying to stand up!! We were actually pleasantly suprised that we both managed to...

Apr 12, 2006 - Coff's and Byron

Well it's Wednesday and we're on the road early. We pretty much bombed up the road to Coff's Harbour, which gave us our first view of the Pacific... That's what we were wating for.. Miles and miles of sand and blue sea as far as the eye can see. Gloroius. Strolled along the beach, shoes in hand and getting a flavour of Aussie life, we like it. A few necessities to be done, shopping and all that and then it was time to settle in at the most surreal camper van site ever. Dutch owned, as the name would suggest "The Clog Barn" and it really...

Jan 12, 2006 - BYRON BAY

After spending nearly 4 weeks in Sydney I felt it was time to move on and see some of real australia instead of another city. So I left Jules and Lucy behind to find jobs while I hopped on a plane to Byron Bay. The first day in Byron I met a really nice couple called Jo and Gav who I ended up spending alot of time with during my 6 days in Byron. Also Paul one of my room mates in Sydney ended up in Byron to with his 2 Norwegian friends Christian and Ronny and I met Ali who was in my room in Byron the first night I was there. We all decided...

Nicole In Oz!!

Jan 9, 2006 - OZ - Holy Discovery Channel!

Luna's Log: From Newcastle we continued up along the coast, stopping for a night in Nambucca Heads and then onwards to Byron Bay for a few nights. Byron Bay offers a huge beach and a haven for surfers, but unfortunately there was a torrential downpour of cats and dogs (or is it wombats and dingoes?) so we only had a few hours of beach time. We also caught a movie, "Broken Flowers" with Bill Murray. I liked it, Jonas didn't...has anyone else seen it? We made our way North for a night in Brisbane, where we visited the Lone Pine Koala...

Jan 7, 2006 - Byron

So a Irish guy, a English guy, and a American walk in to a bar. . . So we rented a car in Sydney, promptly got lost in town but found our way out and made it to the lovely town of Coff's Harbour for the night. It sucks but i am sure the torential down pour didn't help either. Up bright and early and made it Byron Bay. Byron is cool. It reminds me of our little beach towns but just a bit cooler. It's probably all the accents. So after three days of ringing places in Byron we were finally able to get a bed when we were a few hours out. And...

Dec 27, 2005 - Christmas in Byron Bay!!

Well Christmas in Australia has come and gone! Turned out to not be as hard as I thought it would be, partly I think because it just didnt feel like Christmas! Too hot, to weird, I dunno made it better though! Although when I got to Byron I had a parcel from my mom, grandma and grandpa, and cards from all my aunts, uncles and cousins and a card from my friend Lori in Edmonton, so that was SO nice. I waited until Christmas morning to open them all, and was even so pleasently supprised to see my grandma had put a stocking in and everything!!!...
