Hawaii is one of the most tropical, beautiful states in America, and so I was thrilled when the stars aligned and I was finally able to take a vacation to experience its beauty for myself. Looking for a few fun things to do when you go yourself? Look no further than the fantastic experience that I had!

Day One

My girlfriend and I left The Modern Honolulu, our hotel, to explore Honolulu. I felt like I had to dress the part of an excited Hawaiian tourist, so the first things I bought were a Hawaiian shirt, a bucket hat and a pair of fun socks with palm trees on them. Great, now I looked the part.

After that, we headed out of Honolulu to Waikiki for some of the world-famous beaches. Before going to the beaches ourselves, we took the North Shore Beach Tour, which let us see the best spots Waikiki has to offer. Plus, free ice cream at the Dole Plantation!

After our beach tour and plenty of sun, we went out paddleboarding at dark to see the weekly fireworks. It was a truly magical experience. Waterlogged and thoroughly exhausted, we headed back to our hotel for some much-needed rest.

Day Two

It was time to explore the other islands, so we caught a ferry to Maui to take a snorkel trip from Blue Water Rafting into the waters of Molokini. There, we saw some of the most colorful fish I had ever seen in my life, plus incredible formations on the ocean floor. I even got up close and personal with a manta ray!

Once we were dry again, we went even deeper underwater, this time in a submarine. Our submarine tour traveled past coral reefs and sunken ships over the course of an hour or so, giving us an incomparable view of the ocean floor. It was also a perfect way to cool off before we headed back out into the sun and heat of the island!

We spent the end of our day picnicking at Ho’okipa Beach Park, watching the seas turtles come ashore on the beach. They even had a volunteer on site to answer any questions we had! It was beautiful to watch all the turtles come up to rest on the sand. Amazed by sea life, we again headed back to Honolulu.

Day Three

We spent this day relaxing on the island of Kauai. First, we made it to the overlook at Waimea Canyon, a gorgeous state park with a fantastic view of the natural surroundings. It was gorgeous tot take in this fantastic location!

After that, we headed to the Nani Moon Meadery, the only functional meadery in Hawaii! We sat and sipped several kinds of mead. I suggest the Ginger Spice!

We finished off by having some poke for dinner. Absolutely delicious! Tired from all the traveling we'd been doing and all the mead we'd drank, we went back to our hotel to get some rest.

Day Four

We spent our last day on the Big Island, starting with a sunrise lava tour. I got feet away from real, fresh lava and got to watch it in the wild! We also got to hike around gorgeous, lush trails. Everything was amazing, although the volcano smelled very strong.

Finally, we toured the Kona Old Style Farm to see where they make kona coffee. We even got to drink some samples at the end! After everything we'd done, it was a great pick me up.

This vacation to Hawaii was just what I needed to rest and recharge, and I was glad I finally got to experience what the islands have to offer. Hawaii definitely is a crown jewel of the United States, one of the most beautiful vacation locations anyone could ask to visit. I know I'll be going back in a heartbeat, and if you're considering going too, here's my advice to you: do it!
