Christmas Tree at Amadeus Hotel

Christmas Market in front of St Stephens Cathedral

December 17/18 -

Departure to the Danube Christmas market cruise on AmaWaterways! As always Letitia was punctual in picking us up for our departure from LAX. As we were scheduled for departure out of Terminal 2 (Delta) we did not encounter much traffic. Once checked in we discovered our departure was out of Bradley terminal - but the shuttle was past security to take us directly to Bradley. Our 10 hr and 14 minute flight to Paris was uneventful, but landing in Paris and parking very remotely, riding the bus to the terminal, going through security, clearing passport control and hoofing it to our assigned gate the 1 hour layover was not enough and we missed our connecting flight to Vienna! So we sat at Charles DeGaule airport for approximately 6 hours waiting for the next flight. By the time we checked into our hotel we were exhausted! After depositing our luggage in the room, we wandered over to St. Stephens Cathedral and walked through Stephensplatz to try to stay up and find a place for dinner. In wandering we checked out the Christmas decorations and Christmas markets - there were Christmas markets by St. Stephens Cathedral and even in the area in front of the horse stables of the Lipizzaner horses at Hofberg Palace. After dinner of goulash for me and grilled chicken on salad for Vicki at Reinthaler’s Beisl we returned to our lovely Amadeus Hotel for showers and crashed for the night! jc
