|An early start this morning and we began at one place I had been previously, the Kinkaku-ji Temple (the Golden Pavillion). Last week when I visited, it had been really overcast and the photos I took looked really flat. Today, the pavilion was bathed in beautiful, golden, morning light, and with fewer tourists this morning, I am much happier with my shots.
From there we headed towards the beautiful Nanzen-ji temple, then followed the Path of Philosophy to Ginkakuji Temple, or the silver temple. The weather could not have been more perfect and walking along the canal, under the cherry trees was so peaceful. I could just imagine this place during the cherry blossom season though, you wouldn’t be able to move.
We decided to spend our last night in Kyoto in the alley ways of Pontocho; very touristy but still a fun place to have dinner and wander around. We ended up having a night cap in a small bar, where we encountered three twenty year veterans of Japan – a Kiwi and two Americans. All agreed this was one of the best countries in the world, and from our experience so far, we had to agree.
