Another interesting driving day!!!

Left Matamoras at 9:00 and headed west on Hwy.476 toward Toll Hwy 495. When we got to Hwy 495, signs says it was closed up ahead, but it let us on and there was no one at the toll booth. About 60 K down the road every had to get off the turnpike and we had to go through a toll booth. Because we had no proof of where we entered the Hwy., they charged us $96.00, they maximum charge assuming we had been on the Hwy. since the start. We can dispute this charge, and we have been told by others this has happened to, that we will likely get our money back. To add insult to injury, we then wound up driving around the on windy back roads of Pennsylvania, before we could find our way back to a main Hwy. It also added about 2 hours driving time. Should have been in Lancaster by 1:00 and didn't get there until almost 3:00.

Were surprised how busy Lancaster and the surrounding Amish Country is. Had expected it be much smaller and quiet!! Relaxed and visited with our neighbors after we got set up at the Old Mill Stream Campground, in Lancaster. Went out to the Good N Plenty, family style restaurant. The menu was roast beef, ground ham loaf and fried chicken and the usual mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetables and fresh bread. There was a selection of 5 different desserts. We tried the pudding, shoo fly pie, apple crumble and ice cream. We skipped the cheese cake. After supper we went for a drive through the Amish country side and the towns of Bird in Hand, Intercourse and Paradise.

A long and busy day!!
