Martens 2019 Adventure travel blog

Today was a long and not our best driving day!!

The day got off onto a bad start, when the GPS (that has height alerts) sent us down a side street that had big tree branches that were way too low for us to get under! There was no place to turn around so Alvin wound up backing up onto a fairly busy street. Got that done with no problem and had to navigate a tight 5 corner roundabout. We had gone down the side street to avoid this corner! Got through that and got onto the toll Hwy. 95.

Alvin decided to stop at the first rest stop, to check if we had any roof damage from the trees this morning. Every was good! The way out of rest stop and back onto Hwy. 95 was really convoluted and we missed the turn and wound up heading through the narrow streets of downtown Kennebunk, before we got back on the Hwy. We had driven through downtown Kennebunk yesterday, and had said how glad we hadn't gone here with the rv!! Good thing Alvin stays calm and is a good driver!!

The next few hours were great! Roads were good and we we left Maine and drove through Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York. Once we were heading west on Hwy 84 through New York, the traffic was getting really busy! We were in stop and go traffic for a couple of hours and were over 2 hours later, getting to Matamoras, Pa., than we should have.

It had been a long and eventful day, by the time we arrived at the Tri-State Rv Park in Matamoras, PA.
