Weather has been just right, low 60’s at night and high 70’s during the day
The area is a summer beach destination on Lake Erie. They say it is the shallow Great Lake at 152 ft. deep. It is 150 miles wide where we are.
Lots of wineries and covered bridges as attractions. They claim the shortest at 18 ft and the longest at 613 ft.
Drove up to Conneaut, OH. Did laundry and had lunch at the Rainbow Café. Tried to see the local light houses, never found the Ashtabula light and the Conneaut light was too far out in the lake to get a picture. We did find some beaches to walk on, found some sea glass. Spent the evening at the Elks Club. Met some very interesting people.
31 Aug Took the long scenic route down to Geneva on the Lake. We first stopped at a VW car show, probably over 200 VW’s of all shapes and sizes. Then we parked in town and walked from one end of main street to the other end of town and back again. With souvenir shops, game arcades, carnival restaurants, and too many Harley Motor Cycles, it felt like the midway at a circus. Barb wanted to ride the ferris wheel located at the Fire House Winery so we could get a good view of the town and the lake.
On the way back to the RV we stopped at the Little Pie Shop at Highway 45 and 431 and got a slice of Peach Praline-very different and good. We may go to breakfast there tomorrow before heading out.
