It wasn't my intention for this trek, to check out my roots. But as we got closer, I got excited about the idea.
It was a little tougher getting to Rockville, MD. than we thought. The GPS said it was a two hour trip from Ashland, VA. Between the rain, the traffic and a couple of accidents, it took four hours.
I had help doing some research and was able to find a spot that we may have lived. I'm sure the actual building is gone by now but I do remember some stories about the nearby train tracks. I'll check it out tomorrow.
Most of you know I was born in Washington, D.C. at Garfield Memorial hospital. Again with a little research I found out that Garfield Memorial hospital is now a nursing teaching college. I'll check that out tomorrow as well.
