Something very strange happened today – the sun came out. All be it in short bursts.

But first things first, I must have clipped a street sign or something sharp because a small tear had been made in the awning. Fortunately I had some vinyl sheet that I had previously used to repair the awning along the top seam where it had started to delaminate... A quick repair and I’ll claim on insurance when I get home...

We then drove off in search of Cooloola Cove. We did not find the cove part and ended up in Rainbow Beach.

Drove out as far as we could go to see the sink holes but the area is all fenced off as the sinkholes keep appearing. Hundreds of people camping out there though, they would not be short of water but their solar systems would be struggling. Talked to a chap who said the barge had only just started running again because it cant operate if storms are forecast which left lots of unhappy campers stranded on Fraser Island... We have previously “done” Fraser Island and at barge tickets at $120 for a 10 minute trip we negated on that option.

Its a strange place in as much as it caters to beck peckers ( Kiwi back packers) or 5 star with little in between, the diesel must be really upmarket as its $1.73 a litre and $1.57 in Tin Can Bay... We did not drive onto Rainbow beach either this visit, we have driven the beach from the Tewantin end a couple of times.

Had a nice 3.141 star lunch at “the Deck” of Ribs with slaw and hand cut crinkle chips.

After lunch we drove around town a bit then back to TCB.

Well it will soon be time for a cuppa and then dim the lights so as not to disturb the other happy campers who all seem to go to bed by 8:00pm.
