Grammy Museum

Home of the Lakers (And Others)

Originally had thought today might be my down day but then w/ the traffic on Wednesday and Thursday was so bad thought it made more sense to do it yesterday and hope that today the traffic wouldn’t be quite as challenging. It wasn’t as bad but was still by no means smooth sailing. Only thing I wanted to do for sure here in LA was the Grammy Museum which is what I did today. Got there around 10:30. A lot of the same elements as the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland but not as extensive and covers all genres of music. One thing that surprised me is the Grammys have only been around since 1959. There were quite a few interactive displays as well as booths w/ video presentations about different types of music. Stayed until 2, then walked around the neighborhood a bit. The museum is in an area they call “LA Live”. It is a several square block entertainment area that includes The Staples Center, Microsoft Theater, a large movie theater, the LA Convention Center, a number of hotels, and numerous bars and restaurants. Considered running over to the La Brea Tar Pits and Museum but it was a 20-minute drive to go the 6 miles and I hadn’t had lunch yet so I passed. Traffic was heavier than the trip in but got back to the area of the hotel around 3 and stopped at a Denny’s for a late lunch.
