Canyon Views.

Monday September 24th, 2018

We have arrived at the Grand Canyon following 9 days of traveling. Today’s drive was the longest so far, at 388 miles. Arriving on Monday the 24th of September we gather for dinner at Al and Roses to go over the Maps and plan the next couple of Days. We are staying Grand Canyon Camper Village which is located 1 mile from the National Park entrance. We picked this in April, so we would have full hook ups. Meaning we have Water, Sewer, and Electric. We had read some questionable reviews, but I have to say this was an excellent choice. The camp host informed us on the first day that they were not able to credit our account should we decide not to stay the full six days. So at her advice we booked 4 days with the option to extend the other 2days. As it turned out we extended for the additional 2 days.

The park has a shuttle system which divides the park into 3 routes for viewing the Grand Canyon. We divided that into 3 days, one day on each route. Much to our surprise it took u a full on each route. The routes are divided in look out point for different views of the Canyon. On Thursday we took the red route to Hermits point. On the return from Hermits Point we stopped at El Tovar Hotel, which promptly became Beer Point. We enjoyed beautiful views of the Canyon, along with a few locally brewed IPA’s and of course some snacks.

This day we covered 5 miles of walking an we needed some rest. The day ended with Pizza from the Pizza and Pasta restaurant just outside the RV Park entrance. All of agree to a minimal day on Friday with exception of lunch at the Cameron Trading Post.
