A Chinese Odyssey travel blog

Whoops! We nearly stuffed up, here!

Amidst our slew of visitors (from Ireland and the USA) over the last few weeks, we missed an email from Sinorama reminding us to apply for our Chinese Visa! Fortunately, we found the email a few days ago and have now applied for the visa. We are lucky enough to live fairly close to Sydney - a couple of hours by train and only $2.50 for Seniors! - so we travelled to the Big Smoke today, to apply in person. I have to say, the Chinese Visa Service is very efficient - we were in and out in 15 minutes! We should have the visa in a few days time.

During this process, we spoke to Sinorama about our flights. The preliminary booking (for visa application purposes) had us on a flight to Guangzhou, followed by a domestic flight to Shanghai, with a midnight arrival. we asked about paying extra to be on a direct flight arriving at a much more civilised 6:30 pm, only to be told that we had already been booked on that very flight, as our ‘real’ flight, at no extra cost! Awesome! Not only that, but our return flight is also direct and both are on Qantas! We have nothing against other carriers, but we are pretty loyal to the Flying Kangaroo and prefer long flights to stopovers.

This trip is starting to shape up really well.

Happy trails!
