Farewell Moreton-in-Marsh

Where's the train?

We have come to the end of our cycling tour of the Cotswolds! Although we only managed to cycle on three of the days, we still enjoyed the trip immensely. This region is what many people think of when they talk about the “English countryside”, with it's little twisty laneways, green fields and pretty, immaculate villages, and it's clearly a favourite with tourists. We also generally found the people to be very friendly and helpful, which made the visit all the more pleasant.

We were given big hugs by our host on our departure, and a taxi arrived to send us back to Moreton-in-Marsh to catch a train back to London (Broadway doesn’t have a railway station). Unfortunately in the hubbub of taking our leave, Lan managed to pocket the room key, so we had to leave the key at the Redesdale Arms in Moreton for Pam to pick up later. Oops! Fortunately, all of these places are very close to each other so it wasn’t a complete disaster.

On our way to Moreton, we also chatted to our taxi driver. He had a horror story to tell us about another pair on the same cycling tour (but a couple of days behind us). Unfortunately one of them was blown off her bike by a sudden gust of wind and broke her arm! This certainly vindicated our decision not to ride when the wind was up!

We had plenty of time to spare in Moreton before our train to London, so we relaxed in the Cotswolds Tea Rooms (where Lan had had her bangers and mash a few days before), borrowing their wifi and having a light lunch.

Finally we got on the train. It was cold and raining by this time, an appropriate farewell for us to the region!

We're back at Studios2Let, but this time at its North Gower Street branch, right near Euston station. We had an excellent Pakistani meal at the local, family-owned Ravi Kebab, and had an early night as we depart first thing for Copenhagen tomorrow!
