Water taxi into Venice

A beautiful day to enjoy our first outdoor meal

The beam ceiling in our hotel room

We flew from Toronto to Venice, Italy last night. It was an eight hour flight overnight, and we hardly slept a wink. We are traveling with Glenna’s sister Cathy and her husband Chris, and friends Liz and Tom.

We took several exploratory walks to get our bearings straight and plan for tomorrow’s sightseeing. We are staying at Hotel Ala, which is a short walk from Saint Marco Square. It is a nice hotel.

We really enjoyed our walks. What a neat city. No cars or bicycles, just walking or boat taxis. The city is made up of 181 islands of various sizes, all surrounded by canals.
